,5 ' 1 1927 1-nor-u EUUCBQE IN MEMORY OF DR LUCIEN CALVIN WARNER In the death of Dr Luclen Warner on July JO last Oberl1n College lost one of the most potent and wholesome personal factors of 1ts h1story Dr Warner recewed from Oberhn h1s A B 1n 1865 and an A M 111 1870 Only erght years after h1s graduatron he was made a Correspondmg Member from the Alumn1 on the Board of Trustees When the Board of Trustees of the College was reorgamzed Wlth regular PIOVISIOH for alumn1 trustees Dr Warner was elected among the tlrst of that group and cont1nued an alurnm trustee untll h1s death H1s ent1re and contmuous connect1on w1th the Board was f1fty two years Dr Warner was a most valuable Trustee throughout the ent1re perlod of h1s membersh1p 1n the Board g1v1ng unstxntedly of t1me and thought and means Hrs Judgment was of rare sound ness and h1s Splflt mavnammous and both qual1t1es called out the trust and adm1rat1on of h1s fellow Trustees and made h1m a natural and encouragmcf leader 1n the Board Dr Warner gave repeatedly and generously to Oberhn s needs The most notable of h1s mater1al g1ftS were the bu1ld1ng for the Conservatory of Mus1c and the burldxng for the Mens Gymnasrum Both bu11d1ngs were greatly needed and came at a most opportune trme The College conferred upon Dr Warner 111 1900 the degree of Doctor of Laws 1D fittmg recogn1t1on of the serv1ces he was rendermg to var1ous Chf1St1HH and ph1lan throp1c organ1zat1ons We thmk most truly of Dr Warner when we thmk of h1m not as gone but as stxll 1D the m1dst of a l1fe and work permeated w1th the sp1r1t of Chr1st and of the endless years Henry Church1ll Klng Page nzneteen gtpyvfi-lq,ff 7L1.A'7fxf.Tl1'1z4x.n ' 1 as 2 C ' - - ll X I 'a' rx 4 M V , ' J gs ' a 4 .
