YW- K y X -llnqn After a week of sitting in long meetings, placement tests, handbook orientation, lectures and consultations, Freshmen Ori- entation Week culminated with a skating party to set a trend for the coming skating parties for the year. The theme was Af- rica as the walls were draped with tigers, elephants, and leopards all contributing to an atmosphere depicting our African heritage. Black awareness was demon- strated through the colorful and ex- pressive styles of dashikis and geles. After an educational awakening into routine of a college student, awareness of oneself and one's culture would surely be a great step in the road of life. The music from the organ also added to the theme of the party. I5

Such is the usual beginning for a typical question asked during a Dating Game interview. On September 30, Oak- wood provided entertainment for the student body by giving them insight into the personalities of eight new Freshmen. Noel Burke was the emcee as Miss Sherri Bog- gess interrogated Robin Hunter, Ellis Pitts, and james Lee while Debbie Holland, Cynthia Iohnson, and Paula Smith answered the queries of Michael Pennington. Perhaps the annual Dating Game at O.C. will one day be followed by the Newlystead Game.
