PRESlDENT'S MESSAGE The time segment of ones college years is sometimes thought to be pro- hibitively expensive involving a continuing expenditure of effort and money. During these sacrificial days of drudgery and discipline, it is easy to agree with Horace that each passing year robs us of some possession. But when viewed in the framework of eternal interests, a Christian college education proves to be a blue chip investment indeed! The hours of each passing day are precious beyond computation and there are fabulous rewards in store for students who wisely improve their talent of time. Our particular age of atomic power, speed, and space is pregnant with promise but it is also extremely hazardous and challenging. To avoid the hazards and to reap the promises of the times before us will require unusual readiness. This is the time to prepare vigorously and thoroughly for an even more startling, eventful future At this sunset hour of another school year, the Administration and Faculty of Oakwood College want to thank each student who has contributed the warmth of his personality to our throbbing campus life. lt will bring lasting ioy to review in The Acorn the scenes of '62-'63 which we enioyed together. OTIS B EDWARDS PhD Dean of College Mrs Edwards compleTed her high school and lunior college courses aT Oakwood Junior College. When The in- sTiTuTion became a senior col- lege, she was a member of The TirsT graduaTing class in 1945. As a TaculTy member, she has served as secreTary To The PresidenT and The Business Manager, Teacher and was appoinTed Regis- Trar in 1945. Mrs. Edwards counTs iT a privilege To have been connecTed wiTh The work of The college Through The years. In his early days of ser- vice, Dr. Edwards, from 1924- 28, was Dean of Men, CriTic Teacher, lnsTrucTor of HisTory, and he served in The Music DeparTmenT. When Oakwood became a senior college in 1943, Dr. Edwards was ap- poinTed chairman of The His- Tory DeparTmenT.
