This person is Mrs. Margaret Fauchier. Mrs. Fauchier has taught Algebra I, II, Geometry, and Trigonometry since she started her teaching career at Oakwood in 1969. She has also been an advisor of Pep Club. She is both a friend and teacher to the students of O. T. H. S. Thank you, Mrs. Fauchier for your friendship and help during your years here at O. T. H. S. From, The Students of OAKWOOD TOWNSHIP HIGH SCHOOL Cross Country Back Row: Jim Chatt, Dave Cook, Bill Cambron, Tom Davis, Monte Hazelbaker, John Brazas, Coach Keever. FRONT ROW: Bruce Mullins, Bill Billings, Jim Maurer, Alan Pierce. This hasn't been exactly what you would call Oak-wood's best year winning three and loosing ten, but it could have been in spirit. The team started off with a good chance to have one of its better seasons. Unfortunately a couple of key runners were lost, but still individual awards were won by John Brazas making the all conference team and Dave also earned 100 points towards his varsity letter and was the only one to enter the 100 point club. We finished 3-6 which looks like a losing record, but for the Oakwood Comets, we finally found the will to win. I was fortunate to have 14 letter-men who stuck with me all season. I would like to thank the seniors whom I was very proud of this year, and the rest of the team for giving me their trust and respect. And finally, thanks goes to Coach Biehl, who did a great job as my assistant. Led by first year Coach Bill Brown, the Oakwood Comets streaked to one of their best records since the 1960's. The year was highlighted by many accomplishments beginning with the Consolation Championship at the Ross-ville Holiday Tournament. The Comets displaying an attitude of determination and desire to win, also brought home the 'Comeback' award. Monte Hazelbaker, the hot shooting junior center, rewrote the record book by establishing a new scoring record for the tournament. Other accomplishments included second place finishes in the county standings and East Central Conference and a third place finish in the Vermilion County Tournament. The Comets were led by seven lettermen including Ron Stone, Rick Cun-diff, Monte Hazelbaker, Tom Davis, Bill Wells, Denny Vinson, and Bill Cambron. We have a great team and a great attitude, next year should be even better. 24 COACH BROWN Tom Davis... forward, guard. Ron Stone... forward, guard. Bill Wells.. .guard. Denny Vinson... forward. It's brought stage fright To the entire cast. We all wait in fear Cause the worse is yet All we can hear Is My lines I'll forget! Mrs. Johnson says, Cheer up you guys, Forget all your fears! But how come her eyes Are loaded with tears? The cue will be given; The curtain will open soon. Oh, I wish I weren't livin' Or else on the moon! We're all in our places With our costumes on, Goop on our faces Why must the show go on? The curtains lie stiff But then the cue is made It's started to lift And the lights start to fade. My throat's dry as September My heart skips a beat For as long as I can remember The house on Steiner Street... Jim Wolfe 28 Wrestling Kneeling: R. Lonas, C. Lomax, M. Lazzell, B. Billings, A. Coach Biehl The wrestling team was very inexperienced this year, however, with a great determination and the will to win, they did a super job. Our record was 7-11 and overall I was very pleased with the season. I was especially proud of my two State Wrestlers, Frank Childress and Charlie Lomax for their dedication to wrestling. It is within education that one is permitted mistakes and then receives help in correcting these errors. It is the intent of Oakwood Township High School to take an active part in the world of today and share these experiences with youth so they may be more aware of the world about them. Graduation from high school should cause a moment of reflection and gratitude. The public education system as it is established in our democracy system is second to none in the world. We are all fortunate to be a part of this system which permits changes in a democratic fashion and to make adjustments to meet contemporary needs. 70 Maurice Arbuckle The Board Back Row L. to R. : W.A. James Chatt II Valedictorian Co-Valedictorians James Chatt II Stephanie Popp Salutatorian Melody Ferling GRADUATION NIGHT Many have prayed, for this day to come Some laugh, and others cry And again there are some That hate to think of leaving. Just to think, that many of us Will not even step in these doors again, Brings a sad and sorrowful feeling Through every her and him. It seems like only yesterday We were young and unaware, And we were entering into a world Where there was knowledge to learn and share. We will never forget All of our good and wonderful friends, And always knowing there was someone there When we needed a helping hand. This is not good-bye But only a hello, To a new and exciting world That we will soon begin to know. 118 Mary Burke Class of 1974 Good Luck FOR EVERYTHING THERE IS A SEASON For everything there is a season, and a time for every matter under heaven: a time to be bom, and a time to die; a time to plant, and a time to pluck up what is planted; a time to kill, and time to heal; a time to break down, and a time to build up; a lime to weep, and a time to laugh; a time to mourn, and a time to dance; a time to cast away stones, and a time to gather stones together; a time to embrace, and a time to refrain from embracing; a time to seek, and a time to lose; a time to keep, and a time to cast away; a time to rend, and a time to sew; a time to keep silence, and a time to speak; a time to love, and a time to hate; a time for war, and a time for peace.
