SENIOR CLASS HISTORY Scared but determined, 103 new faces entered Oakwood Township High School in the fall of 1956 to begin a slow but enjoyable four year enrollment. Getting in the swing of high school ways, our class provided laughs galore for the upperclassmen on initiation day, and received full revenge at the sophomore return party. Officers for the year were: Tom Fletcher, President; Richard Lane. Vice-President; Frank Warner, Secretary; Judy Goodwin, Treasurer. Janet Terry was our Homecoming attendant. With remembrance of last year’s tortures, the new greenies were initiated. Officers for the year were: President, Tom Fletcher; Vice-President, Betsy Johnson; Secretary, Barbara Neff; Treasurer, Dennis Mauck. Our play, The Man Who Came to Dinner was a big success as was the magazine drive. With our concession the treasury was boosted sufficiently and made it possible to have an outstanding Junior-Senior Prom. We were all thrilled when our class rings finally arrived in October. Officers for the year were: President, Richard Lane; Vice-President, Larry Dunn; Secretary. Linda Richter; and Treasurer, Barbara Neff. The big year has finally arrived. We are finally SENIORS! All four years we have been well represented in sports. Our lettermen include: Dick Denhart, Larry Dunn, Tom Fletcher, Andy Slade. Jack Seymour, Jerry Hobick, Lance Girton, Julian Stone, Bob Block, Marvin Saathoff, Larry Taylor, Russ Stephens, Bill Wynn and Dave Majzel. Highlighting the annual Homecoming our class candidate, Virlane Youmans was crowned Miss Victory. Senior class attendants were Betsy Johnson, Barbara Neff, and Janet Terry. Our class was again honored when Janie Swengel was crowned Miss Harvest Moon Ball Queen for 1959-60. Janet Terry and Virlane Youmans represented our class as cheerleaders for four years. Karen Maxwell represented us for three years. Officers for this year include: President, Barbara Neff; Vice-President, Larry Dunn; Secretary, Frank Warner; and Treasurer, Dennis Mauck. Our Student Council members for this year were Tom Fletcher, President; Richard Lane, Vice-President; with Jane Swengel, Larry Dunn, Linda Richter, and Sharon Jones as representatives. Graduation in May will climax four years here at O. T. H. S. and give fifty-seven young men and women a good start in a future career. High school days will soon be lost within the broadening of our lives. We now say good-bye to O.T.H.S. and continue in our respective paths. Beware world! Here comes Oakwood's best fifty-seven, the class of 1960!
