Soon these young lives, disguised as dignified seniors, were tilled with thoughts of football, hockey, and lastly, studies. Their crowning achievement came on Thanksgiving day with the decisive victory over the Fairmont Dragon. We got some tree publicity when Wid Worthington won the HERALD trophy tor being the best all-round 'football player in the city. In December Big-Hearted Herbert was pre- sented by the budding actors ot the class, Heitz, Cowden, and Shroyer. Exams came next and, atter passing them with a VERY low average, the seniors decided to turn over the much-spoken-ot new leaf. Never were there such energetic workers as were seen during the tirst week ot the second semester. The Girls' League gave the girls one last fling when it sponsored the Sweetheart Dance. This presentation made wall tlowers ot several ot the boys, and purses as poor as the proverbial church mice tor all the girls. The coming ot spring created a million and one things to do-Steele and Miami tests, a variety ot sports-tennis, golt, baseball, and track-tor the athletically inclined, Forensic League bright-lights' participation in the several speech contests: 'the Spring Festival and the Band Contest tor the mem- bers ot the music department: the cry, ACORN'S going to press g and, tinally, graduation. Graduation! It hardly seems possible. Yes, it's here. The humor ot class day, the tun at the pic- nics, the thrill ot the tarewell, the lump in one's throat as the AIma Mater is played tor the last time, the long, long walk up the aisle with diplomas in our hands and tears in our eyes-is it not all a dream? Velerans al lhe game were Josiah Wilson Bill and Geor- gie Greene, who had lried lo ioin a show in I924 by allending pre-kindergarlen. Twenly-lwo lillle aclors and aclresses responded lo lhe call. This casl included Louise Canny, Rila Geis, Bill Oliver, Charles Whalen, a budding public speaker, Bob Schaeller, Bob McSherry, Bob Slorms, Jean Bar- ringer, Marlha Jane Heilz, lhe lhree Mary Kalherines-Reemelin, Shroyer, and Lange-Bud Egberl, Don Connell, Izzy Kunlz, Frances Smilh, Belly Van Horne, David Cowden, Wilmah Lane, Bob Howland, Evie Hullman, and Billie Filzgibbons. Barely speaking English, lhis illuslrious casl learned lhe French dilly, Frere Jacques. ACT I .... In Seplember ol lhe year I926 lhe show opened. Talenl scoul, Frances Ross, discov- ered lhe following lo acl in lhe Shalorile Company: Nina Palmer, lhe lillle girl wilh lhe huge hair rib- bons, Norma Anderson, Arlie Heilmann, Willie Eichenberger, Richards Kerr and Renner, Kay Sev- erin, Tom Richards, Gerry Graeler, piglails and all, Bob Evans, Belly Benz, Mary Dressler, and Pally Caslor. These aclors and aclresses were shown in a scene wilh numerous beaulilul green collages scallered aboul, while Grelchen Smalley selecled lor lhe Harmonile Company Belly and Dick Kim- mel, Sue Laulenslager, Ted Howell, Bud Crawlord, Bob Franlz, and Bob Gravell. These people were in a Chinese kile llying scene al lhe side ol lhe school. A combined chorus ol bolh companies, disguised as Chinese and Norwegians, mel lor lhe lirsl lime in a gay pageanl on lhe Talboll lawn. ACT II .... Making lheir enlrance in lhis acl lor lhe Shalorile Company were Earline Claunch, Scoop Binkley, and Dollie Weaver. These cherubs made demure lillle bullercups, violels, and lilies in lhe scene direcled by Binkley. Appearing in lhis acl lrom lhe Harmonile Company were Bruce Brower, Jeannelle Killredge, whose braids were a lemplalion lo players Slorms and Schaeller, Bill Condil, God's gill lo lhe Harmonile aclresses, and Sebe Anne Smilh, who iusl arrived lrom a company in Troy, Ohio. The curlain lell while lhe Harmonile Company enioyed a picnic al Sue Laulenslager's larm. ACT III .... Only lour new laces appeared in lhis scene. Loudly singing America, lhe BeauliluI, Arlhur Schnacke and Freddie Reichelderler came lo help lhe Shalorile Company dedicale lheir lem- ple ol Arl, as Warren Busby Eslabrook, lhe arilh- melic experl, and Joan Grelher represenled lhe Harmoniles. As lhe curlain fell, lhe Harmonile aclors were shown pulling on a panlomime show. ACT IV ..,, As lhe lourlh acl arrived lor lhe Shalorile Company, Louise Canny, who had been bribed by lhis company lo deserl lhe Harmoniles and join lhem, Doyle Paddock, lhal lwo-man gang Quenlin Shank and Roland Kyle, Bob Boyd, Wild Willie Gailher, and Audrey Reeves joined up. The only new lace represenlalive ol lhe Harmonile Company was Anne Munger, whose abilily prob- ably made up lor lhe olhers who did nol appear. In lhis acl lhe Harmoniles conlinued lo cullivale lhe higher arls by ioining lhe French chorus and slarling lhe Troubadour, which was made up ol blank verse and piclures. The prevailing lheme ol lhe whole scene was lhal ol a group ol he-man boys chasing silly lillle girls in lhe lamous game ol Boys Chase GirIs. lNow il's Girls Chase Boys. l ACT V .... New lalenl was added lo lhe Shalor- ile Company by lhe addilion ol Trucking Tracy Geiger, Hasly Howell Gano, Reserved Richard Moore, and Celebraled Cecil Slevenson, lhe I. Q. girl. Shaloriles Irma Walling and Janel Denlerlein made lheir enlrance in lhis acl. Scene I showed The Quesl ol lhe Bell, presenled by Ye Olde Shalor Acl Company, slarring lhe year's mosl magnilicenl malinee idols, Tracy Geiger and Max Binkley.
