The senior-high boys preTTy nearly broke Their necks Trying To daTe Joan. Did The Senior T-ligh ever Turn To The eighTh grade before? Nosiree, our class had iT, Randall Cusler inTroduced his air bag, a liTTle crysTal radio requiring a greaT deal of rooT-scaling in order To esTablish aerials. The climax came when Chuilr Brehm, aTTempTing To scale The unknown heighTs oT The garage rooT, Tell oTT Q and broke his arm. The air-bug cosT him TwenTy-Tive cenTs3 The arm, some TwenTy-Tive dollars. , 6 ln The ninTh grade we inauguraTed The new Junior High building. Those 54 ', who ioined us in The ninTh grade were JaneT GodTrey, Anna Jane Leen, Irvin T K -I Zimmerman, Louis T-Teald, Claire Schumacher, Thomas Alvie Maher, Joe 5 Korek, l-'lenry Newcomer, and MargareT' VanderhorsT. Louie l-leald's all-round abiliTy caused all oT The girls' hearTs To Throb, and l-lenry Newcomer's scholasTic abiliTy had The same eTTecT on his Teachers. We were The TirsT class To graduaTe Trom This building and paid due respecT To The even? wiTh a graduaTing ceremony. Vernon Reeves leTT us To go To STeele, Kay Parks reTurned, The TenTh year was augrnenTed by Mary Louise KarsTaedT, Felix Alfred Roche, Lynn Crandall. John Reeder, Jim STrain, Doris Boswell, and Helen Dahling. Felix immediafely became known as The IiTTTe man wiTh The big voice and Doris Boswell's Tace TrequenTly Turned red. Bill Schneble. Thinking ThaT The Tire had died down, reTurned To us. RoberT Davidson's execuTive abiliTy began To Come OuT when he was appoinTed head baskeiball manager. Kay Lee leTT us To reTurn The following year. Helen Ealey, Bob Grunewald, Big Bill Sigmund, Jean Burchinal, and Bill PeTTiT hooked on in The elevenTh year, adding To our illusTriousness. DwighT Mills decided To give us a break, or maybe Mr. Lewis did: anyway DwighT dropped back To graduaTe wiTh us. Russell WolTe wenT To ST. Louis. Nobody new carne To us in The TwelTTh year, buT Russell Wolfe, Vernon Reeves, and n Marion Low reTurned. NoThing sTarTling happened ouTside oT The usual QT I 'ya scholasTic, social, and aThleTic achievemenTs. Of This super-colossal rlass of I935, There are nineTeen charTer members sTill wiTh us: Louise Davies, ArThur HeiTz, Marion HufTman, DoroThy Ingle, Eleanor Kilbourne, KaTharine Lee, Brad Schaeffer, Beniie Reemelin, Sara Jane Kimmel, Jim Rieger, Carl Meuche, John Knoderer, Bill Schneble, Bob Cline, DoroThy Lee Sullivan, Harriei Clemenl, Marion Low, Mary Elizabefh Smifh, and Mary Louise Van Horne. The lcindergarfen is To be remembered by The HeiTz-Schneble affair. IT is needless To say ThaT Schneble won by K. O, ing HeiTz wiTh a well aimed bloclcg however, iT became Too hoT for Schneble and he deparTed for Holy Angels. The firsT grade broughf Virginia Dohner, Frances Reed, Jack Landis, Elma 0 if STanley, BeTsy Brehm, and MargareT Howe. lT is rumored ThaT Landis' wealrness 8 Q for STanley sTarTed here and wenT unnoTiced all These years. In The second grade came .lean Leonard, Lillian WhiTe, and DoT Lee Elder. WhaT we laclced in quanTiTy was made up in gualiTy This year. Caroi May C-riffiTh, Mason Hoolcer l.yTle, and RoberT Behm were added To our already noisy floclc in The Third year. Thoge who came in The TourTh grade were AnneTTe LauTenslager, Nancy Pauli, Sue MarTin, .laclc HobsTeTTer, and Barbara Pape aT Harmon. The liTTle coTTaqes which were used during The consTruc- Tion of Shafor Boulevard, broughT us Russell Wolfe, Paul Feinerer, Mildred Davis, Louise T-leiTmann, Eileen Weaver, and Virginia Brenner, This was The beginning of The MarTin-HobsTeTTer affair, back in The days when Paul Feinerer loolced like a sTudenT, Barbara Pape quickly puf herself inTo The limeIighT wiTh her abiliTy To draw horses, and AnneTTe LauTensla-ger did The same wiTh her rare combinalion of beauTy and brains. The TifTh grade broughT RoberT Lippard Davidson, Harrison STanTon Con- 2 3 dif, Leona PTTT, Enis Nelson, Helen Blacln, Caroline BurneTT, and Jane Clarlc. l?oberT Lippard Davidson made his famous speech before The DayTon Women's if my Garden Club and was acclaimed an infanT prodigy lby The Garden Clubl. While we were in The sixfh grade, The Shafor Boulevard building was complefed and The coTTage dwellers moved inTo iT, This new feaTure induced Chrissoula Economides, Kay Parks, and Carl ShulT- heis To ioin The ranks aT Shafor: and since RoberT Grandin was Too lazy To wall: ThaT far, he came To Harmon. We appreciaTed The spring pageanT very much because we used mosT of The school Time lor praclice during The merry monfh of May. lT was in This pageanT ThaT RoberT Lippard Davidson again dishnguished himself as a prodigy in his acfing The parT of The bellman in The Bellman of Mons, alThough we didn'T Thinlt much of his organ playing.
