There have been drasTic curTailmenTs, a shorTening of The school year, making a less compleTe and Thorough grounding in TundamenTals, buT we have parTly overcome These diTTiculTies wiTh a greaTer cooperaTion of TaculTy and sTudenT body, a more regular aTTendance and prompTness, a greaTer earnesTness, and a Tiner spiriT on The parT oT all. ln a word, our characTer has improved. EssenTials have been preserved. The high school has had The largesT increase in yearly enrollmenT in iTs hisTory. The iunior high school increased from 349 To 3847 The senior high school Trom 240 To 3l3, making a ToTal increase oT IOS and a ToTal enrollmenT oT 697. The inspecTor Trom The STaTe DeparTmenT of EducaTion and The NorTh CenTral AssociaTion oT Colleges and Secondary Schools, who sTudied The school on November 3, I932, made an excellenT reporT To The Oakwood Board oT EducaTion, commenTing very Tavorably on The buildings, The physical equipment The library, The TacT ThaT sevenTy-Tive per cenT oT The Teachers held lvlasTer's degrees, and The meThods oT Teaching. The Tollow-up oT alumni This year showed l35 graduaTes in 55 higher insTiTuTions. The sTudy oT The reporTs senT ouT by The colleges To The high school on our sTudenTs revealed a very close relaTionship beTween The record made in The college and The record made in high school. The records This year also show aT leasT TwenTy oT our alumni near The Top oT Their classes in college. A lisT oT Oakwood alumni who have won leTTers in college aThleTics is published elsewhere in The ACORN. Oakwood l-ligh School again sTood highesT Tor DayTon and MonTgomery CounTy in The STaTe Scholarship ConTesT Tor seniors.
