At each swim meet we still felt like winners, no matter what the times said, Having a new coach this year was something that also added to this year's season. The new coach was a big help to the new swimmers on the team and helped us help them. added freshmen Jenny Worley. Spirit for any team is something that is almost required. rack Attack '8 Teachers, students, and parents walk outside by the track, seeing gold sweats with the winged foot of Mercury: the god of speed. The sweats belong to the 1987 track tigers, a spirited group de- termined to run, jump, and throw a personal record every meet. The high point of the guys sea- son was the team's strong show- ing at the R-9 Invitational. 'tThe team's strength is in the sopho- more class, stated Mr. Schimpf. The top senior, Joe Stemler, is weekends. 1 think it is fun being on the varsity sprint team, but it's hard work practicing every weeknight and on the school record holder in the 800, 1600, and C5200 meters. The Tigerette's team, led by Coaches Mr. Bishop and Mr. Dennett, was fairly strong in ev- ery event. Senior Stephanie Meert explained, 'lTrack is more than running, it is being versatile in many events, and also having fun! After the team's formidable showing in the Parkway North re- lays, Kellie Cobb and Michelle Peterson laughes, 'iWe all love Mr. Dennet, even though we aren't as good looking as him! QA? J'-gf A ,.
