IT is The difference befween being drafTed and going To college, befween sleeping in a foxhole or in a dormifory room. IT is The differ- ence befween killing and learn- ing To preserve life, befween life and deafh ifself. Each of These differences plagues The conscience of each male high school graduaTe. Can I really kill someone'? Of course many can say ThaT when iT comes down To your life, you will do anyfhing To save iT. Then pic- Ture yourself being eye To eye wiTh The enemy. Can you kill a person who is The same age and Thinking The same way you are? The crises siTuaTions in Beiruf and Grenada have provoked many 'I8 year old males To Think abouT Their feelings on war. Senior Tom Knese feels, I won'T fighT for a war I don'T believe in. Realisfically, senior Carl Seim believes The same buT added, I will probably have To fighT any- way. Receiving ThaT drafT nofice in The mail can be The mosT Trama- Tic happening in a male's life. Some may ask, Why me? WhaT's The purpose of war? Three war veferan Ivlr. Heafh sTaTed ThaT war accomplishes nofhing. IT jusf creafes animosify and enemies. STIII some have plans of es- cape. lf l'm drafTed, l'd go To The Universify of ToronTo, boasTed senior Rob Ladage. The feelings and supporT for war was somehow losf for The American public when The U.S. goT involved in police acTion in Korea and Viefnam. IT made The people ask, WhaT are we doing over There? Despife The facT ThaT Americans sTiII geT involved in very confroversial world siTua- Tions, There are sTill paTrioTic voices ThaT can be heard ThroughouT The Unifed STaTes. DespiTe any war The Unifed STaTes mighT geT inTo, I would fighT because I feel a sense of duTy To my counTry and people, replied senior STeve De- Francesco. When asked abouT The proTesT againsf The draff, lvlr. HeaTh com- menfed ThaT while sTaTioned in Viefnam, We didn'T Think abouT some college proTesTs. We were concerned wiTh fighTing for our lives. As The Unifed STaTes involves IT- self in world crises, The aTTiTudes of Today's young men will defi- niTely affecf Their decision To send miliTary supporT. T'l'm scared be- cause l know I can'T kill some- one, sTaTed Chris STevens. IT isn'T ThaT Today's young men aren'T paTrioTic: iT simply means ThaT kill- ing is no longer The choice of The counTry buf The choice of The in- dividual. Seniors - 9

Ulvlay- be I beTTer sTarT eaTing a big- ger breakfasT. Do you Think ThaT mighT heIp? This could be a word of advice for some of us. Maybe we should Tell Brian Rinck abouT This since his word of advice is Take easier classes. You don'T have To sTudy and sTill geT an A. While on The oTher hand, Richelle Hohl kiddingly said, 'Il wish I would have sTudied more 'cause now I'm bummin'. I should have worried abouT iT, buT I was having fun, High school is fun. IT has lusT Taken some of us longer To re- alize iT. l'm having The besT Time of my Iife, exclaimed Rhonda Bridges wiTh a smile from ear To ear. 'll Think I would have missed ouT on a loT if I wouldn'T have changed schools IasT year and goTTen involved. Wlshingly, Darline OgenT sTaTed, 'Ilf only I would have Taken C.O.E., I had enough crediTs, Then I could have goT- Ten a job insTead of borrowing money from my mom. Col- leen SorTh is also a liTTIe con- cerned abouT moneyand find- ing a job when she sTaTed, I wish I had been able To Take The harder classes ThaT would have accompanied my ca- reef. We have so much To look forward To: a career, family, and hopefully fulfilling ThaT one big dream we always had Tucked away deep inside. Four years may seem like a long Time To geT ready for whaT is ahead. Could we have Taken one more class and worked a IiTTle harder? Or are we going To pay 5,000 dollars To go To college and Take classes we could have Taken during high school? IT was our decision. John Schnurbusch wishes he would have made plans earlier when he sTaTed, I should have Taken all six hours To fill up my free educaTion. I could have gone so much farTher in life, buT no one Told me. 120 - Seniors
