X 0 D Patrons and Friends f The Cherokee Indian Mission and School ,EQ Greetings There can be no doubt but that education is considered to be the greatest common good road to the life of a true democracy It is that acknowledgement in America that has brought the opportunity for and education out to the remotest parts of our land George Washington said, 'knowledge is in every country the surest basis of public happiness ' It is the purpose of your instltution to adhere to this policy in leading your children through their primary and grade school General and secondary education is given in the high school specialized education is given in the colleges and universities of our land Parents should consult with the local school authorities about the plans of the high school graduate As we grow in strength and ability to set forth a better school program our responsibilities also increase We should like for you as parents to share with us the responsibilities in planning the future for your child A parent teachers organization ought to be 1 the making for the coming year We should also like to extend services from the school to the homes in the year ahead of us The vocational courses both in Agriculture and Home Economics ought to reach out to your homes This is an invitation for you to contact us more often with problems that you may have The Mission which has in the past extended services in religious training ln charity and general service has increased its capacity and happily serves any and all lay we express our appreciation to all who have contributed to a successful year that now has come to a close The 1950 1951 year has seen the greatest expansion of the institution outwardly of any in its history. It 18 only through united efforts and the guidance of God that we can hope for a similar mental and spiritual growth. A great educator has said that all life thoughtfully lived is education. To become a well balanced person of ability you ahould take advantage of the educational opportunities that are offered you all along the way.
