Progress that can be measured through our deeds. Ie have been challenged by those who have gone before us. As we work to meet this challenge we are simultaneously laying out the challenge to those who will follow. Therefore our progress will be measured by two sets of standards, from those who look back, and from those who come after us. We, as individuals, are privileged to make the choice which will take us in one of two directions. We can better the mark set by those who have gone before us, and keenly challenge those who have gone before us, and keenly challenge those who followg or we can fall short of our goal and so fail our predecessor and our successor. Those who have gone before us and given us our heritage, our challenge, have been true to us. As we acknowledge our one hundredth year as a state we can see the rich land that has been our inheritance, the culture that we enjoy, the society in which we live. Now we must take our turn. To perpetuate is not enough. We must not only perpetuate our way of life, but we must challenge those who follow. Sincerely Ward S , Principal IN MEMORIAM 'From among our midst, to the realm of our hope. DEDICATION , ,pw ,f LLL, f X41 1 To a man who is more like a second father than a teacher and coach, who can turn out district champions year after year, who is loved and and admired by all who know him. In gratitude and appreciation for all of the fine things you have done for us, we wish to dedicate the 1959 Warrior to you, a great teacher, coach, friend and companion, Coach Lee Reeder. Many of the members made the trip to Medford during football season to support the team at the State Tournament. One of the main points of business of the year was the acquisition of new uniforms. The girls selected purple pleated skirts and lavender sweat- ers. Among the activities sponsored by the Pep Club were the Sweetheart's Ball, after-game danc and moneymaking projects. They Run iq SENIOR TRIP At 4 am, being birght-eyed and bushy tailed, the seniors left Oakridge on a chartered Greyhound bus. The seniors that didn't go to bed the night before, caught up on their sleep before we arrived at Oceanlake. At 92-im, we en- joyed breakfast at the pancake house and then moved on to the Surf-Tides beach, where some went horseback riding and others enjoyed a cold dip in the ocean. An indoor swimming pool accom- modated the few who didn't want to brave the cold beach and in- coming tide. When lunch time arrived, everyone was ready for some nourishment. Previous arrange - ments had been made at the Charkel Broiler restaurant where we enjoyed a very Well prepared lunch. l After lunch some went shop- ping while others took a canoe ride at a nearby lake, in which nearly everyone eventually got thrown into the lake. At mid-afternoon, we re- turned to Surf-Tides beach where bathing beauties finished the tan for burnj that they had started to achieve in the morning. In the late afternoon, we left for Fogarty Park where we ate our supper, played games, and later enjoyed a beach party. We left the coast about 10 pm and arrived back in Oakridge about 3 am, very tired and sleepy but happy with the fun and memories we will have in the future of our senior trip.
