Superintendent Of Schools YOU AND OPPORTUNITIES You live in a marvelous age of opportunity. Twelve years of public education are provided. A college education is available for persons who have the desire and an ability of average or above. In addition to the formal education opportunities, a lifetime of learning is pos¬ sible by listening to other people, reading many publications, viewing visual mass media, and by various other approaches. It has been written that many young people today assume the world owes them a living. Whether or not this attitude is prevalent is without substantial proof. All evidence points to more and better opportunities for the person who prepares well, who is a never ending learner, and who will give just a little extra in his chosen job. The typical employee is said to be interested only in fewer hours, large financial rewards, and quick pro¬ motions. The more important considerations involve job satisfaction, service to benefit others, and an oppor¬ tunity to advance to one’s highest expectations. Opportunities will always exist for persons who prepare, w ' ho give that little extra in effort, and who relate to worthy purposes. What will you do with your present and future opportunities? DR.
