A woodland glade, a nice comfortable log and the thrills in the Saturday Evening Post provide plenty of pleasure for these three members of O.H.S. faculty. It must be a relief to Miss Ekas and Miss Shott to get away from the split infmitives and dangling participles of the English de- partment. And how the quiet of the woods must soothe Miss Gillespie after a trying day in a gym class. Here Mr. W'ood explains the intricacies of measuring the tensile strength of wire to a group of studious Physics students. Mr. Wfood is adept at seasoning his courses AIARY VVlI.L1.XMS, R.N. Wfoon, AB. of General Science, Physics, and Chemistry with a barrage of well-meant wisecracks. Although an odor of hydrogen sulfide often permeates the lab, and many other physical hardships have to be endured, Mr. VVood's students always come up for more. If our dental and medical departments should ever be in a literary mood, How to Alleviate Pain' and Influence Microbes, would be an appropriate name for their masterpiece. Unsolicited testimonials of approval would be available from many students who have had their oral and bodily ills cured by our medical staff.

of Our Faculty Miss Moot takes a few of her precious spare moments to demonstrate the radio phonograph, a new addition to the music department. Our music instructor has not had many such moments of leisure this year. Aside from her regular duty of changing the voices of our students to light, clear headtones, and of getting more than squeaks from the orchestra, she has had the added responsibility of preparing for the Music Festival in Ianuary. However, the visitors and we, her pupils, thought her an excellent hostess and all thoroughly en- joyed the event. lVay down in Room 3, amid the assorted drawings of her students, dwells our art teacher. The-re is scarcely a project or an activity started in 0.1-IS. to which this friendly and willing teacher does not lend a hand. VVhether for plays, scenery, appli- cation of makeup, dances, parties, posters or decorations, she is on the- jobf, Her classes are always interesting, a11d the Art Club is thriving. Nevertheless, in spite of all her activity, she is ever ready to give help or advice. Under the tutelage of Miss Hammon, our domestic science students learn the gentler arts. The part which the girls en- joy most is eating what they cools. Can't you sec the anticipatory gleam in the eyes of these girls as they await the results of their efforts! Meanwhile they wash dishes, although this work doesn't conform to their ideas of fun. Under the able direction of Mr. Porter, Oakmont boys learn the rudiments of car- pentry and how to handle tools. In addi- tion, Mechanical Drawing, which is part of the Manual Training course, proves help- ful to many aspiring engineers. The useful projects made by the students make the course one of the most practical open to O.H.S. students. MARY E. Moor, B.S. EIELEN E. xN11Il'1'l2, AB. HELEN M. Harmon, B.S. GEORGE D. Mr. Kliskey gets a real chance to lecture, both to his football team and his American History classes. Mr. McCurdy and Mr. Masters concentrate on Civics and lliology classes. As a sideline, Mr. Masters has a Plane Geometry class and Mr. Mc- Curdy has a lone General Math Course. Is it the class-room boners of the fresh- men and junior English classes that bring smiles to these second floor teachers? For the time being, at least, Mrs. Foster is not at all concerned about those terrible mis- takes the juniors make. Although Mlle. Harter shows interest in 'her colleagues papers, her heart is really with her own classes as she struggles through first year linglish or helps them to parlez-vous.
