NOVEMBER -First basketball game: Fishers 23-Oak- landon 17. -We have a new song for Oak to the tune of the Beer Barrel Polka . -Happy birthday, Aileen Felton. Basketball game with Franklin Twp. -Franklin Twp. was victor Friday night. We have a Student Council. -Tom sends Mr. Craig a message to-wit:- Meet me out at the trash pile after this period. -Fire Drill, hot stuff! Jim A. finally gets a bag for the Jr.'s money. Mr. Bruce says that if we don't laugh at Mr. Craig he won't always be making those silly remarks. BEAT LAWRENCE! Will we? Tomorrow James H. grows one year older. -Why do two Senior boys turn toward the back of the room when the Freshmen are in the study hall'?? -P. T. A. meeting. Seniors go to town to get their pictures taken. -Sophies have a party at Betty Teter's. Girls club is now Girl Reserve Club. -Seniors get proofs for their pictures. Af- ter all, tho', the photographer can't work miracles. Sophies look sleepy after last night. -Judith Wright and her father entertained us today. -Freshman party. They decorate the Cafe- teria. -Porter's come out and take pictures. Sen- ior health class goes to Sunnyside. Wonder if that first flip that Harold A. turned when he and Pete were leading the Yells put a bump on his head? -Out an hour early, Mr. Callaway gives us something to be thankful for. -Back after Thanksgiving vacation. -Mr. Craig explains that the brain floats in a fluid, and Clest thinks hers has sunk. -Harold A. 'Never threw no spit-wads'. Ball game with Speedway City. -Girl Reserves draw up their constitution. DECEMBER -Senior party. Clestiabelle takes spill in typing. -Teacher turns farmer, gets stuck in fur- row. -Sophies have party. Mrs. McDaniel treats the Juniors to a show. -Porter's back, take basketball and yell leadei-'s pictures. 3- 13- 15- 18- -..- 4 10-Why is Joe McDaniel washing dishes?'? 11- -Why does Tom want to walk in where he isn't suppose to be?? He shouldn't follow people so closely. First victory of the season-Oaklandon 33-Howe 20! 11-Why is Harold A. now called 'waterfoun- tain'? -Cloyd sits on the chair but ends up on the floor. Choose our invitations. Play Castleton to- night. Harriett T. thinks all Do health ques- tions are emphatically t'False . Lois Cory informs Orville that she would hate to have him as a daddy. Reverend Sizemore gives us an interesting talk on Learning a Lesson . 19-Joe McDaniel has been going up and down the stairs quite often lately. VVhy?'?? Do Tom and Orville have anything to do with it? -Third victory!! Oaklandon 30-McCords- ville 23. 21-Exams! Nothing else to ponder over. High school and grade school present a program celebrating Christmas. Exchange gifts. See you in 1940! JANUARY 1940 ..-Exam results and what results! Jim A. spells Indians with a little i because they were little Indians. 3-Professor Steinback visits physics class. Cloyd thinks '13' really is unlucky! 5-Senior cards arrive. 9-Mr. Brunson turns preacher. Proof can be obtained from the girls, seventh to tenth grades. Sophomores and Juniors receive an add- ing machine. -Tonight is the night for the Donkey Bas- ketball game. 15-What happened to the Donkey Basketball Game?!!! We have had girl cooks in the Cafeteria for some time now. Something must have happened to the mothers. Maybe it's the cold weather. -Seniors hold an election. -Tourney tickets on sale. 5 6 'T 8 11 12 13 14 15 18 19 20 21 22 25 26 27 28 29 CALENDAR SEPTEMBER -School again. with a new principal, new band leader, and several new pupils. -School out at noon for the benefit of those going to the Fair. -IVe select sponsors and class officers. -Joe McDaniel and Allen Miller were ab- sent. Sick? Sure, but I bet they can tell you everything about the Fair. -Juniors choose their class rings. -Juniors start selling candy. -Play Castleton in a game of softball. We win 28-3. -Hot! Cloyd and Orville are absent from physics class. Wonder why? New Junior, Patricia Downtain. -Too hot for school so we dismiss at noon. - Yes, we have no bananas , but we do have a banana tree. -Today we have some bananas. fWhat about it Joe M. and Bob B.?J -And the Sophomores still don't know nothin' about geometry. Will they ever? Lost a game of softball to Franklin Twp. 8-7. -Our high school team plays a night game of softball. Oaklandon High vs. Oaklan- don Independents. We win 7-4, in spite of the Independents sneers. -Some leave school to see the six man foot- ball game between Lawrence and New Augusta. -We play a softball game with Castleton and win 30-3. High school girls' team play the fifth and sixth grade boys. fGirls win.J -Mr. Craig, demonstrating a force pump, sprays Cloyd with water. Accident or is his aim bad?? Orville sits near. -Mrs. McDaniel passes out Csamples of candyj in Literature class! We play a soft- ball game at Franklin, they win again, 8-7. -Initiate Freshmen at high school Wiener roast! Wonder why all the teachers have black faces??? -Recovering from Wiener roast while we have monthly exams. OCTOBER 2-Fire drill, all out! Physics class is last, they can't hear the bell. 3-Mrs. McDaniel asks for a four line poem from the Freshies. Fredda writes: 'We go to school, Page twenty And stay all day, But it's not our fault, Blame Callaway. 4-Report cards! Ask Lamar D. why June T. blushed in biology class. 5-Seniors start selling annuals. fHow is Pete N.'s sprained ankle? Ask B. TJ Happy birthday, Mary Fields. 6-Everyone stiff from skating last night. Home nursing class has a tea and shower for a sick room. -Yesterday was Cloyd's birthday. Juniors call ring man back. Why? -Representative from Porter's Studios is out to see Seniors about annual pictures. -Imagine hitting a fly with glasses on. Cloyd does and knocks his glasses off. -Start the Cafeteria. Mrs. Zella Henry in charge. -Friday 13th! Choose yell leaders. Clest and Veneta win. They have competition in the form of: Carl N. and Dana N., and Doris MCC. and Aileen F. -Pete Negley is limping again. Do you suppose he was invited to another skating party? Ask Dana N. why he blushes. There seems to be an epidemic of blushes. -'Red' Southern of the New York Yankees and Notre Dame talks to us for an hour. Why are Jim H. and Tom W. always go- ing on strikes? -Why did Aileen and Doris bring glasses of water to Govt. class?? fSpeeches!J -Senior girls Write letters to Orville. Tch! Tch ! -Sent flowers to Orville. Why was Jim Apple so tickled in English class? We wonder and so does he!! -Why are Veneta, Harriett, Patricia D., Stella, and Emily wearing tape on their fingers? -Season basketball tickets on sale. We wonder why Pat Phelps blushed so in Lit- erature class. 25-Ivy is a capable nurse as long as her pa- tient stays in bed but upon rising Betty T., her patient, pinched her leg. A black mark Ivy. Senior Party at Tom's. -27-Teachers Convention. 30-Yell practice for first game. A talk by Mr. Callaway telling us to YELL if we are going to. -Hallowe'en! A visit by Castleton girls to our girls club.

Results--Oak. 28-Law- renee 30. -Basketball Banquet. -Ivy doesn't have enough meat in her chile so she takes a piece out of her jaw. Har- old A., by request, left English class. Junie T. was yelling Blush, blush, Oh, my gosh! when Frankie picked up her purse. Why June'?'?'? James Huntley wastes an entire hour by reading a funny paper without even crack- ing a smile. Jim A. substitutes for Clest as yell leader, much to our amusement. -Yesterday Doris McC. grew a year older. For milk bottles-cheap-see R. C. Calla- way. Answer to physics problem 8- Confidentially I don't know anything about this-Result 57 for honesty. -Did Tom get his piece of candy from the Senior girl '? '? '? -Report cards. FEBRUARY -Leroy M. has an escort of five eighth grade girls. -Boys are awarded their sweaters. One .lunior boy receives a letter. Game with Castleton postponed because of illness of Castleton's first five. Play Alumni in- stead and come through-Oak 32-Alum- ni 28. -If you want to find Mary J. look for Norma NV. and vice versa. They are al- ways together. -Tom's STILL looking for his piece of candy. Jeepers creepers! Are the eighth grade girls really in love'??? -Did the Juniors get an answer to their lette1 ?'??'?? -Even calling back their reserves didn't enable the Alumni to defeat the Varsity in the scheduled game tonight. They were defeated with a score of: Oak 27-Alum- ni 26. -Dorothy S. Doesn't know her own strength -she breaks Q71 the window stick. If the Juniors sell 'Cokes' who's going to drive and take the ice to McCordsville'? Ask Jim Huntley how to take curves- and he takes Safety!!! Who has Cloyd's typing paper?? Page flvenfy-two 12- Did that extra lipstick Harriet wore when she took her drivers test make an impres- ion on the policeman who gave the test? Play McCordsville-lose by one point. Play VVhitestown-win 27-23. Everyone's spitting things in the waste- basket-Question: Why? Answer: Mc- Laughlin! -Cloyd likes to tip back on chairs but he always goes to the extreme and ends up on the floor. Information: One way streets have one end while two way streets have two ends. 22-Piano bench is minus its legs. Allen M. and Harold A. can supply particulars. Is Harold still crawling or has he learned to walk'?? 23-A vote of appreciation goes to the basket- ball boys for they played an inspired game tonight-defeating Lawrence by doubling the score. Three Cheers!!! 24-Defeat Castleton in the last game before the Sectionals-Castleton 24-Oaklandon 37. -Powdered sugar marks the spot where someone ate one of those doughnuts! -Mr. Craig lost his insulator and did he jump??? Ask the physics class. Who was the boy friend Harriett left Eng- lish to see????? -Leap Year Day l-Look out boys!! MARCH -Mrs. McDaniel turns pro on making bas- ketball nets. Oaklandon defeated by War- ren 35-28. -Clestiabelle wonders how she will ever learn her play part-nineteen You said a mouthfuls . 5-Ask Ruth what happened to her yeast. The Commercial Class gave a 'tlittle small, one act play for the P. T. A. -Clest and Grace turn murderers-they kill their yeast. -One ball team-lots of ice cream-Mrs. Stoner makes good her if you beat Law- rence promise. -Everybody ate and everybody talked and everybody had fun at the banquet given the basketball boys by their mothers. -Achievement Contest at Butler. Harriett lost! Was it a man or was she waiting for her diploma? Donkey Basketall game tonight! Tense expectancy! ! Donkey basketball game over! Craig can't think! We go to press.
