We have decided to deal with the E MOTIONS that accompany our fantastic student body. Some of the emotions we have chosen to look into are enthusiasm, energy, pride, happiness, concern, anticipation, determination, frustration, fear and love. Emotions are something that everyone experiences, and as we look around our campus, we can see all the emotions that life can bring. 'Y cena ' ' -iff 915 0 ew, Q I 1732 5,2 - r The happiness of winning the big game .... The pride that seniors exhibit at graduation .... The frustration of failing an important test . . or the love that two people can share. As young adults, we have all matured a great deal and I'm sure that emotions have played a very important role. No matter what frame of mind you're in when you flip through these pages, we hope you will think about how emotions affect you. The important thing to remember is to always oppose frustration with hope and optimism. The sophomores at Tech experience frustra- tion as a constant occurence. Frustration to them is the failure of a locker to open, the puzzling test of high school, but the worst frustration of all is to let the complexity of high school push you in a corner where you THINK you have to avoid it by cutting classes! A group of sophomores take time out from a busy day to get to know each other. I wonder if he was my type? For it's the administration that will set the standards that society will expect each graduate to have. Standards of: maturity, respect, and scholastic achievement. It is sometimes difficult and frustrating to inspire some students to measure up to the expected standards. But the question is not one of the administration rigidly enforcing the rules, but each student's Willing- ness to follow the rules. Q Qi 'r 1 Q 4' Ji QQ QQ QQQ QQQ if if .Q . Q. English English is of such importance in America, that anyone without adept use of it, will have a difficult time. Using correct English at the correct time can mean: a good job, a bigger paycheck, and sometimes peace of mind. English is often referred to as a boring and dull subject. H Dedication Spells Bulldog Football This year's varsity football team lived by the word HDEDICATION. Although they had a winless season they worked hard throughout the year. Coach Wayne Brooks and his assistants built a team that exhibited outstanding defense but the offense could only manage 30 points over the entire season. Football takes a team effort a.nd a lot of hard work, Tech had some truly fine athletes that tried at all times to bring pride and dignity back to Tech. With all the talent that the Bulldogs possessed it's hard to understand why they cculdn't put it all together. Their most frustrating loss came to the No. 1 Skyline Titans 40-0. Even though most people seemed to criticize, the 1974 Bulldogs should be commended for their true HDEDICATION. 5 - W, WY I Q in 1: ,lf f Q .f . LM! nz. , g M' 1 Q0 I ,4 x uf f k I , 0 . There were a few individual bright spots in the season, especially on defense. Tech's future looks especially good with Bullpup stars going to Varsity next year. Tech should become acquainted with a winning season, because of outstand- ing coaching. Tech teams have never had bad attitudes. There have always been support and response from the players to coaches. s After all it's not whether you win or lose, it's how you play the game. A. L. competition. But with such stars returning as, Captain Felix Ramos, goalie Eddie Delgado, Javier Patino, Aniceto Garcia, and Nolberto Martinez there is no doubt that the Bulldogs Bu will have another winning season. D 1 Bulldogs Finish Second In O.A.L. Competition This year's Soccer Team had an excellent win-loss reocrd, but frustration was the word that best described the team after they finished the season second in the O. A. L. behind Skyline. Skyline's two victories over the Bulldogs, 2-0 and 2-1 were not that convincing, as the Bulldogs put up a strong fight in each game. The Bulldogs failure to beat the Titans could be attributed to a lack of coaching. They played much of their 74-75 season without a coach, having to rely on their own instincts as much as possible. The Bulldogs dominated the rest of I S the league, and ended the season with ' ' a record of 7 wins, 2 losses, and no ties. The mighty Bulldogs rolled up an 8-2 record with one of their losses being a '75-74 heartbreaker to Castlemont. After losing to the Knights, Tech won seven straight games including a 73-65 victory over Skyline which clinched the right for them to visit the T.O. C. This year's squad was led by probably the No. 1 high school player in the eastbay, Northern Doc Shavers who led the team in scoring as well as rebounding. Senior guard Wolfe Perry was the backcourt ace and led the team in assists. The Mad Bomber Ricky Hill also played a very important role during the OAL with his consistent outside shooting. ,. vii H No rthe rn Shave rs Buiidogs Capture 3rd Place in 29th Annual TOC The 29th Annual Tournament of Champions was some- what disappointing for the mighty Bulldogs as the de- fending TOC champs had to settle for 3rd place. The first night the Bulldogs ran up against the Hayward Farmers, where they shook off the sharp shooting of Charley Ford and a sluggish start to romp to an 87-57 win. Doc Shavers led the Bulldogs scoring attack with 28, points while Ricky Hill had 22 and Wolfe Perry poured in 16. h The second night Tech had the misfortune of facing the Thundering Herd from Elk Grove with the giant-like Bill Cartwright. The Bulldogs were obviously in- timidated by the seven-footer as their shots wouldn't fall in the early part of the game. In the second half, h S9If1i01' 211816 Wolfe PGITY 10OkS yf01' Opening agalllsf Elk Grove Wolfe Perry fo und the range as the senior guard kept the Bulldogs within striking distance. Mr. Cartwright also found the range as he buried four baskets in succession to put the Bulldogs away. The highly publicized match-up between Cartwright and Doc was non-existent as Shavers could manage just 4 of 24 shots while the Sacramento prepster bagged 29 markers. The final score was 60-52. The final night, was a matter of pride for the Bulldogs as they faced the Redwood Giants. The game was close most of the way with Tech pulling away at the end. The Bulldogs finished the season with a 73-67 victory. Both Doc Shavers and Ricky Hill made up for Friday nights performance with 25 and 20 points respectively. As expected Northern Shavers and Wolfe Perry were named to the all-TOC team for the second straight year. Tech's annual gospel concert accomplishes this, des- pite the publicity afforded other activities. The few people that were in attendance seemed very pleased with the performances given by the various Bay Area gospel groups. The vocal harmonizing and smooth, clear notes were the main signs of the well pre- pared groupsg as song after song the com- bined voice-quality of the groups increased. ' ,..-..-..---I-..-..-..-..,..-..-..-..-..,..-..-..-..-..,..,..-..-..,..,.- ' 1975 School Year Has Its Ups and Downs As the school year comes to a close, I am looking back over my stay here at Tech, especially my past year. The 197 4-75 school year has been many things to many people and has had its ups and downs. To me the year has meant pride, happiness and awareness. I'm proud of being a senior, happy to have been associated with some very nice people and aware of the world around me. The 1975 Talisman has tried to capture all of the feelings and reactions of the past year. That is the reason we chose Emo tio ns as our theme. Emotions is something that everyone has experienced at some point in his life, no matter what size, shape or color. I am very optimistic as to the success of our attempts to mold all the happenings into one great big melting pot of memories. The road was not easy, due to several setbacks, but when problems arose we always seemed to pull together. To my staff, I would like to say it was a pleasure working with each and every one of you, and I would like to give a special thanks to Gregg Watson and Spergon Hunt who both proved that good friends won't let you down in times of trouble. To Mr. Miller, Ms. Evans and Mr. Hurst I would like to say thanks for your complete cooperation th.roughout the year, and to Paulette Owens and Joy Jacobs I would like to say thanks for caring. In closing I would like to say that most of my memories of Tech are fond ones, and I hope that the 197 5 Talisman will help you in some way re-live some of the ups and downs of school life. .
