Now we were juniors and we found a new counselor, Mr. Donald Lucas, who was replacing Miss jones, who had left Tech to get mar- ried. lmmediately we began working on our junior Prom, which was our first big event. Our theme was a Chinese one, and the prom was called Shangri-la. Even though we spent many hours preparing for it, We were not too tired to enjoy our prom immensely. Besides partici- pating in activities, We found time to study such subjects as chemistry, history and trigonometry. We returned from summer vacation to find a new dean of boys, Mr. Charles Gilmore, who had come to us from Castlemont. Fall came again, and every Friday we could be seen sup- porting our football team. After scouring our rivals, Oakland High, We Won the O.A.L. championship for the second consecutive year. At the end of this term, for the first time, some of our classmates were able to run for student body offices. X2 i .A i1ICI-IARD couszn oUGLAs DICE IQHAHLES ENGBEBSON 'ATRICIA GAUDIE Climbing the stairs of Technical for the first time in February, l95U, we found the school very large and overpowering. We went straight to the auditorium, where we found refuge in the few smiling faces of our junior high friends. We were greeted by our principal, Mr. Will Green, who welcomed us to Tech and made us feel at home. Then we met Mr. Ferdinand Diel and Miss Roscrbelle Scott, who were to help us through our three years at Tech. Finally, we were introduced to Miss Virginia Iones, who was to be our friend and counselor. By the time the Hello Day came we were beginning to call Tech our school. We were busy that day gathering signatures in hopes that we might get the Mystery Signer's ! For the girls there was the semi-annual Big Little Sister party presented by the Delphians, We became acquainted with some of the high seniors as well as with our classmates. MARIORIE LARSEN BING LEE LILY LEE EUGENE LOUIS LOUISA LUM DAVE MAHKISON ALICE MCCRUDDEN IYOTADA OHIRA EUGENE ONG Finally, the year for which we were waiting arrived. Our senior year! Several weeks after the term started we went to the low senior party at the Recreation Center, where we met new friends and old. Later we attended the main event of the term, Roman Holiday, our low senior dinner. The decorations and the menu tied in well with our Italian theme. Coming back to Tech after an exciting summer, we found ourselves mighty high seniors. We also found that we were to have a new prin- cipal for our last term at Tech. l-le was Mr. George Bliss, who previously was principal at San Leandro High. Our senior activities began almost immediately. Our first event was the senior picnic, held at Marsh Creek. Some of us spent our time in the swimming pool, while others went horseback riding or played baseball. Some brave seniors even ventured to take a ride on the Marsh Creek Express.
