'22 L NA CN WI F1 J! 17 6' In vi HANNE Koi-iLERT l I i PETER WEBER i i l-lanne Kohlert, from Copenhagen, Denmark, became Sue Armstrong's sister as one of Oakland l-ligh's foreign ex- change students. ln Copenhagen, l-lanne attends Metropolitan School, which is 750 years old. When she returns she will find herself in the eleventh grade. Her family is composed of her parents and a 24-year-old brother. The year before she came to Oakland High, she studied l3 subjects including two hours of English a week. She has planned her high school studies in preparation for a career in the field of mechanical engineering. She will have to study for seven years after high school to achieve her ambitions. Db 0 Peter Weber, our foreign exchange student from Peru, lived with Bob Gillespie, fall student body president. He attended a co-educational school in Lima, where he took I4 subjects. The main languages at his school are English and Spanish. Peruvian universities are difficult to get into and you really have to study in order to remain in them. Peter plans to go to college to become an industrial engineer. The Peruvian teen-ager is similar to the American teen-ager in dress and the type of music he enjoys lrock and rolll. Al- though Peter's friends in Lima are similar to us in these ways they do not have the same type of social life. Their social cus- toms are based on those of Spain.
