Bayard Buckham and many of our new feachers. As low soph- omores, we became familiar wifh our grade clubs, Amicae and Vagabonds. Our firsf ioinf acfivify for fhe ferm was a swimming parfy af Dimond Pool fol- lowed by a barbecue af Barbara Anderson's house. By lhe fime we became so homores, we felf righf al home af Oakland High. Tcis ferm Bruce Horwifz was elecied as presidenf. His officers were Audrey Wrighl, Joy Bulfinch, Barbara Baylis and Bob Bills. Barbara Anderson was Amicae presiclenf, Marlene McConaughy wrofc fhe minules and Adrianne Gus- fafson wafched lhe money. The Poodle Prance was fhe firsf dance fhaf our advenfurous class presenfed. Bob Groffkau was fhe only H-I0 fo make fhe varsify foofball feam. During fhis lerm, Dave Young, John Fonfanof and Bruce Dodson made All-Cily wresfling. Warren Johnson was elecfed presidenf of our L-ll class. Helping him were Sonya Bofla, Barbara Ander- son, Bob Bills, Adrianne Gusfafson, Bruce Horwifz, Audrey Wrighf, and Marlene McConaughy. Warren Johnson ran and was elecfed fo fhe office of Chief Jusfice. On Ocfober 30, I953, 'lhe class of January, l955 presenfed Bewifched, fheir Junior Prom. Cindy Gill and Roger Marfin were fhe general chairmen of fhe affair. lf was elecfion fime again, and Jim Sfewarf was elecfed H-ll class presidenf. His officers were Mar- lene McConaughy, Barbara Baylis, Bob Monfgomery, Cindy Gill, Roger Marfin, Paf Hursf, Joan Michaels and Bob Bills. Sonya Boffa was elecfed Amicae presi- denf and Jim Kindorf was presidenf of Vagabonds. During fhis ferm, Bob Groffkau, Don Bryanf, Warren Johnson, Bob Kline, Will Pearce and Bob Bills made varsify foofball. Dick Lee, Wayne Olson, Bob Groff- kau, Bob Liles and Bob Kline were on fhe varsify casaba feam. Wayne Olson made honorable menfion for fhe All-Cify feam. As low seniors we once again had elecfions wifh Sonya Boffa winning for presidenfg Joan Michaels, vice-presidenfg Diana Thomas, secrefaryg Margaref McCufchen, freasurerg Jan Self, Bruce Horwifz, social chairmen, and Theresa Soefen, class hisforian. Mar- lene McConaughy served as presidenf of Amicae and Dave Young as presidenf of Vagabonds. Class sfudenf body officers were Cindy Gill, commissioner of social affairs, Bev Frandsen, commissioner of assemblies: Bob Bills, commissioner of buildings and grounds, and Barbara Anderson, commissioner of girls' affairs. We had be- come high seniors. If is called fhe OHS . . . As fhe old fimer saf on a fence posf whiffling on a sfick and surveying fhe ranch, voices of ifs 2,000 happy buckaroos could be heard. Suddenly a gusf of wind swirled fhe soil round and round. The dusf sform forced fhe old fimer from his perch. Jusf as he de- scended he sfumbled on a book. He picked if up and hurriedly made his way fo fhe safefy of fhe clubroom. He discovered fhe book was a record of fhe gradu- afing class of Spring I955. He began fo read. Winslow Moore became our LIO foreman. Felidae and Confinenfals, our grade clubs, were organized and headed by ranch hands Phyllis Maier and Winslow Moore. We had fhe Iargesf herd on fhe ranch wifh 439 buckaroos. In our HIO year, 'Pisfol Packin' Jay Hudson was our head ranch hand. Carol Sims and Krisf Gudnason fook over fhe reins of fhe grade clubs. 'Schoolhouse Scramble' was our firsf big hoedown. Nancy Robinson planned fhe big shindig. Ranch leader Paf Nobriga led us fhrough our LII ferm. Carol Frey represenfed us on fhe execufive com- miffee. Carol Hanson and cowpuncher Roger Lang- ford headed Felidae and Confinenfals. Our big shin- dig af fhe Norfh Oakland Recreafion Cenfer was headed by 'Liffle Anney Oakley' Phyllis Maier. Danc- ing, swimming and refreshmenfs highlighfed fhe affair. Phyllis also won fhe fifle of 'Daisy Mae' af fhe Sadie Hawkins dance. 'Roberfa' was fhe ferm play in our LII ferm. Some of fhe fads included 'zorch' Red Blanchard, pegged panfs, 3D movies and cinemascope. Slickers and be- bop fairy fales were also +aII in fhe saddle. 'Jolfin' George Tyrovolas and Don Bryanf repre- senfed our class on fhe foofball feam. The feam placed fourfh in fhe OAL. Our class also wenf in for readin' and wrifin'. We wrofe essays on 'Why I Wanf fo Own My Own Home'. A fhird prize was won by Charles Florence. The corral gafes sfood open fo more acfivifies in our HI I semesfer. 'Cowpoke' Gary Harfsock was our presidenf. The grade clubs were headed by Emmy Agaian and Bob Adams. The Junior Prom, 'Shanghai,' was a greaf success. Marlene Gherra was in charge of fhe hoedown. Jimmy Diamond and fhe boys from fhe Bar 76 supplied fhe music. The splif grub periods, half day sessions, and vofing boofhs were inaugurafed fhis ferm. The Iafesf do-dads were fhose preffy pink shirfs and crinoline pefficoafs. Glen Miller and fhe boys were real popular and pro- vided much of our music. 'Baske+baII Courf Gulch' was furned info a beaufiful swimming pool. Ken Fred- ricks, Carol Frey and Nancy Knighf were our rep- resenfafives on fhe execufive commiffee. Sally Mc- Connell and Don Ingraham had roles in 'Pink Magic,' fhe ferm play. 'Ranchhand' Roger Langford represenfed our grade on fhe baske+baII feam. The Bar OHS sfarfed a fennis feam. We capfurecl second place in fhe 'OAL' Earl Baumgardner, Dick Pefers, Scoff and Bill Tibbey were among our oufsfanding rackef men. 'Fasf draw- ing' Dick Cole leffered in gymnasfics. In frack, Ieffer- men were Roger Price, Gary Harfsock, Dan O'Brien, Duane Kerr, Dick Jensen, James Vincenf, Fred Clewley, John Jonhsfon, Don Burneff, Roger Langford, and Winslow Moore. Such sfars as Arlie Braden, Dave 'Chapman and WaI+ Erickson were on fhe baseball feam. 'Connie Mae Freifas won fhe Drew Cup. As we saddled up for our senior year, Kenna Wil- liams, a member of fhe fairer sex was chosen fo be our ranch guide. If was called 'The Lasf Roundup.' Gary Harfsock, Ken Fredricks, Roger McKinley and Jay Hudson repre- senfed us on fhe cabinef. The execufive commiffee members included Dan Andker, Tom Lenz, Phyllis Maier, Elinor Sussman, Beverly Beaver, Carol Frey, Wes Suffon, Don Dryer, Carol Hanson and Sandra Hesfer, Judy Rigg, Nancy Robinson and Marlene Gherra were Girl Boosfers' Songleaders. George Tyrovolas, Fred Clewley, Don Bryanf, Roger Price, John Johnsfon, Winslow Moore, Dick Jensen and Marfin Graves were our I954 Ieffermen in foofball. Dolores Del Cerro and Dick Pean played fhe leading roles in 'Kiss and TeII', fhe ferm play. Ofher sfandoufs were Nancy Knighf, Sfan Ibler, Merrill Mal- kerson, Fred 'Clewley, Darryl Ferriera, Barbara War- ren, Terry Zimmerman, Roger Langford, John Beery and Don Ingraham.
