Button Z Dedication We, the class of 1951, dedicate our yearbook to our principal, Stuart C. Button, who is completing his twenty-ninth year as the principal of our school and his thirty-third year in the county. Prof , as we affectionately call him, rates the finest eulogy we can give him. Although we duck for cover when he blows off steam , we know that he has our welfare and that of the school as his primary interest in life. Well has he served, unsparingly has he given of his time and effort. The most fitting gift we can give him. is this book and with it the under- standing that he has our sincere gratitude and whole- hearted affection for his loyalty and devotion to all of us who have come under his guidance. In the name of all those, we, the class of 1951, salute you, Mr. Button, and as our greatest tribute, we say simply, May God bless you. Q 7 Faculty Y N A,,f1xX Er 'M 3' M STUART C. BUTTON MARY K. He is our class cowboy, his horse, Smokey , is almost a member of our class, too. He isa very likeable person, with a friendly word for every one. He and his pal, Bunk Fisk, are never separated in word, thought, or deed. They are noted for tall-story telling. Johnny has no steady girl, but he doesn't lack dates. He hopes to be a farmer in the future and we wish him good gardening. ROBERT FISK Hi-Y Class Treasurer Math Club Band Music Club O. H. S. A. A. Bunk Robert, always known to us as Bunk , has been with us since the first grade. He is characterized by his slow, easy going manner. His favorite hobby is guns. Although Johnny Demer and he are constant companions, he has been known to date a girl or two. ' Bunk plans to be an educated hobo after school or, at least, that's' what he tells us, so we'll be glad to see him around town. ll BEVERLY JANE HASKINS Tri-Hi-Y Secretary '49-'50 Track Math Club F. H. A. Reporter '48-'49 Music Club Band Bev This introduces one of the big wheels in the Senior Class. Whenever there is a program, she always sings willingly for us because that is what she does best. Her hobby is to ride - it doesn't matter if it is a horse or a motorcycle, She has so many boy friends we cannot keep track of their tense - present, past, or future. She hopes to be a model and we are all sure she will go far - even if it is in her boy friend's hot rod . CARL MICHAEL PERRY Social Studies Club Secretary '48-'49 Class Secretary '47-'51 Vice-President Hi-Y '50-'51 Track O. H. S. A. A. Secretary '50-'51 Baseball Carlos Carl Michael, dubbed Carlos, became a member of our class when we were in the sixth grade. Ever since that day Carl has been our class artist, he has a great talent in this field. He is a happy companion, cheery classmate, and a great humorist, He is interested in the U. S. Navy because he is in the re- serves and expects to be called to duty soon. He is very popular with both sexesg in fact, not only the students but also the faculty. Whatever his future, he has our best wishes. IZ EUGENE STACHOWITZ Hi-Y Music Club Boys' State 1950 Science Club Baseball Track Stocky Stocky is the president of the Senior Classg he has been a most capable one. His best friend is Edward Mroz of the Junior CUSS. His favorite subject is mathematics, but science is a close second. He is one of the most popular boys in high school. He plans to go to college and study engineering. If he has a heart interest, he has kept it secret. Our class is fortunate in having Stocky as a member. We wish him luck in the future. LAEL WASHBURN Social Studies Club President '49-'50 Tri-Hi-Y President '50-'51 F. H. A. H Secretary '48-'49 Music Club Treasurer '48-'49 Band Washy Lael is one of our ,charter members: she came in the first grade and has been the leading pianist of the school since sixth grade. Her plans are completed for attending Syracuse University and going on with her study of music. She is one of the honor stu- dents and bright shining stars of our class. She has always been co-operative when we needed a good accompanist and saved numberless programs for us. ' The world is sweeter because of music and in this, we know Lael will give more than her share. 13 I THQ CLASS OF Sf N 5, 7l x B QV X x x ISTOCKYN fx 1 'H 9 4 E1 4? Z9 Our Class The Senior Class of Oakland High, Has completed its school days with a sigh. We did enjoy receiving our knowledge, And here we disclose our grateful thanks That our teachers will acknowledge. Years of study quickly pass For those who work together, Our ship has always made the port In every kind of weather. A willingness to do his share Was shown by everyone, We enjoyed the satisfaction That comes from work well done. In sports we did not lack We even went out for track. Much baseball we did play Enjoying the practice each nice day. We know in these sports we did not excell With a few exceptions we did very well. We'll tell you now just in fun The work and play of each one. Beverly is a sweet little lass She always liked her Home Ec. Class. Eugene worked hard at Math each year A stride toward being an engineer. Robert chooses a life of ease We'll wait and see if he succeeds. Lael practiced her music divine Her work in school has also been fine. Carl is dreaming of sailing around the world Watching the sky line as the sails unfurl. John likes his friends staunch and true Just as he likes to ride Smokey , when he is blue We've told of our activities and plans so fine May our footprints be evident in sands of time. 30 Foretelling the Future of the Class of '51 Into the future, the Seniors now gaze I..et's peek at our plans for future days. Lael - will be proclaimed the successor of Paderewski in the musical world. Beverly's part will be an excellent one, to reign in a home, queen of one man's heart.
