Mrs. Dehn has enriched our lives with her presence. Her enthusiasm in her classes has made learning a fun and rewarding experience. Mrs. Dehn’s undying optimism has always been there to urge us on when things looked bleak. Her friendship has meant a great deal to all of us, especially when we sought out her advice, which she willingly gave. We wish her the very best of life in whatever she does, and that her life is filled with the peace and happiness she has given us all. 4 Buena Suerte de todos los “Graduados”. ; ■ : z5Sw ap syjaffi -. i m freshmen, Steve Andrysczyk Pat Austin Duwayne Barton Bill Bebow Jolene Conklin Rod Dewitz Paul Dineen Todd Flath Carol Flood Shelly Frost Pat Gage John Gierach Kris Gilbertson Barry Green Kirk Green Barb Guell Mary Guell Ross Harmsen Dan Havey Donna Heinz Jay Held Sue Hilbert Sue Honold Karen Hungerford Patti Kounelis Brent Krueger Val Langkau Sophia Leduck Darlene Loehrke Stephanie McDonald 6 break a leg!” Sue Marquardt Keith Marschie Sue Marten Seth Mason Brian Miller Robyn Moulton Robert Nelson Becky Redman Mark Retzleff Russ Ryan Tim Ryan Mary Lou Sanchez Paul Schaefer Philip Schaumburg Jerry Schmidt Tim Schneiter Monica Schrank Toby Shafer Orv Sieger Kurt Steinbarth Jeff Steinke Karen Thill Shelly Thill John Urban Kevin VanEgter Lynn Wachendorf Scott Weinberger J§nn ®illwm TEarl Ziemarr 7 Sophomores— Debbie Barta Robert Behlke Ginger Birschbach Jeff Bovee Troy Bump Todd Chadwick Kevin Champeau Daryl Conklin Hilda De La Rosa Gary Faul Brian Feuerhammer Dove Flath Cheryl Franke Steve Franke Mary Gau Scott Gibson Jack Guell Lori Guell Dean Haack John Heinz Jamie Henke Andy Hoffman Willy Huhndorf Sue Jaeger Jay Jerabek Pam Kester Randy Kollman Barb kuslits Gail Kuslits Carmen Leduck Lois Lefeber Dan McCoy Sue Mathieu Brenda Mauer Mary Merk Steve Messner Ron Meyer Scott Miller 8 Promising understudies Pat Mischker Cindy Nickel Tim Nickel Pat 0’Hearn Kathy O’Laire Lisa Palmer Dawn Patzer Todd Pea Todd Perry Feren Rebedew Tom Riese Chris Rumbuc Chuck Rumbuc Les Ryan Rhonda Rymer Randy Scheberl John Schmidt Pat Schmidt Tony Schwartz Tammy'Shady Rod Stafford Glenn Steinke Mike Supernand Penny Lotter Byron Van Egtern Kathy Vielbig Gary Wettstein Tony Ziemann Jackie Zwicky 9 {juniors Tom Adelmeyer Kurt Albrecht Carmen Araiza Bryan Bard Deeann Barton Jayne Bebow Mike Bell Mike Binney Grace Birschbach Kevin Boelk Patti Brauer Dawna Bump Linda Clark Denise Collien Diane Collien Dale Conger Rebecca Conrad Lori Cook Rick Cowles Gary Craig Jill DeLap Mark Dewitz Jeff Faul —Richard Franke Gerald Freund Mike Gage Robert Geisthardt Lyle Geisthardt David Gilbertson Dawn Guell Mike Havey Reinherd Heinz Jackie Held 10 Waiting in the wings Pat Hilbert Michele Holz Dan Honold Laurie Ingalls Jill Jerabek Curt Kinschuh Steve Kintzler Kathy Kottke Kevin Kounelis Sandy Launders Sharlene Marschie Shelly Mason Kim Matty .Connie Miller Rick Moulton Dorothy Nast Byran Novak Rose O’Hearn Gary Osier Luann Parish Mike Perry Jodi Peters Joyce Pollock Dan Redman Ken Retzleff Kelly Ryan Mark Ryan Mike Scharschmidt Gail Schmidt Tammy Schwartz Dan Seymer Sue Shafer Glen Sobotta Maureen Steinke Paula Steinke Mary Stoppleworth Gerhard Stuewer Jill Towne Bnin Turnmeyer Joan Urbun Dan Van Egtern Dennis Wiese Denise Yates John Yonker Robert Zills Celeste Zuber Lori Zwicky n (gnsfRj :l y - piiilp ;•• Ip?': :$k - ■■I iWkm sm ■' ; ImMh H llfli ffuan Jralza Cross Country 2-3-4, Track 2-3-4, Science Club 4, Chess Team 2, Student Council 3-4, National Honor Society 2-3-4, School Play 3, Prom Court 3, Chorus 3-4, Solo-Ensembles 4, Musical 4, Honor Roll 1-2-3-4, Class Officer 1-2-3. Discover each other ' before we leave. And enjoy each other for what we are while we have the time. 3 Time can separate two people but time can not erase the memory of a friendship. Mary Gau 28 goes on . . . The Pomo Indians believe that there is a day each year when the leaves talk. In the late autumn when the acorns are ripe, the Western Spirit sends little gusts of wind to scatter the dry leaves, which whisper softly of coming events, as they fall ... the girls and young wives linger late in the forest, each seeking the answer to the wish of her heart. 30 Hmnr mm ■ MRS. This year was the first year for Oakfield to gain the Conference Crown. The team had five returning starters from last year and a total of twelve highly dedicated and determined athletes. It was through this fine group that teamwork gleamed. Their work proved to be quite successful with a 48-5 record. Qirls put on a show One cannot truly appreciate the “thrill of victory” until one has suffered the “agony of defeat”. And one cannot achieve without pain, sweat, tears, and a lot of work. This year the Oakfield girls walked into the gym and set goals many people wouldn’t care to touch. They played each game as a team. Among the goals were the conference crown and a hopeful shot at the tournaments. Above all, the greatness of this team was spirited by their feelings for each other, fellow players, their school, and their community. Coach Schreiner J.V. Top row, from left to right: Manager, P. This year’s Girls Track team looks very promising. Not only has the number of members grown, but the enthusiasm and competitive spirit is there, which is the formula for a winning team. With several of the girls returning from last year, the season will be backed with experience, along the techniques and challenges of new incoming members. Whether we win or lose, this group has the determination and desire to overcome any failures, which is what really makes a team a winner. —Nancy Adams 46 Win Some, Cose Some GIRLS VARSITY BASKETBALL GIRLS JV BASKETBALL OAKS OAKS OAKS OAKS 39 Dodgeland 22 45 Lomira 32 19 Oostburg 31 24 Campbellsport 11 66 North Fondy 36 91 North Fondy 31 29 WLA 17 27 Lomira 21 4 i Laconia 40 52 Dodgeland 46 26 Dodgeland 24 44 North Fondy 19 46 Horicon 29 53 Laconia 39 44 North Fondy 18 31 Dodgeland 29 54 Markesan 26 59 Horicon 22 26 Laconia 44 31 Goodrich 33 49 Lomira 40 63 Markesan 50 21 Horicon 31 26 Laconia 40 74 Campbellsport 23 79 Campbellsport 42 31 Mayville 39 26 Markesan 34 RECORD: 14-0. 29 Lomira 38 32 Campbellsport 27 Tournament scores on pages 62-63. 23 Lomira 13 37 Horicon 39 RECORD: 9-9 BOYS VARSITY FOOTBALL OAKS OAKS BOYS VARSITY BASKETBALL 27 St. Lawrence 12 13 North Fondy 6 OAKS OAKS 0 Ozaukee 12 (Homecoming) 75 Elkhart Like 68 61 Randon Lake 79 6 Horicon 38 0 Campbellsport 33 46 Markesan 50 56 Markesan 74 12 Markesan 6 0 Dodgeland 46 55 Horicon 66 59 WLA 41 7 Lomira 13 6 Laconia 36 79 Campbellsport 80 51 Horicon 47 (Parents Night) 46 Laconia 53 55 Campbellsport 61 Record: 3-6 43 North Fondy 48 52 Laconia 75 61 Dodgeland 58 59 North Fondy 58 GOLF 61 Waupun Chr. 76 58 Dodgeland 54 Oaks over Dodgeland 176-191 57 Lomira 54 73 Lomira 67 Oaks over Cambria 186-: 224 RECORD: 7-11 Oaks over Campbellsport Tournament scores Oaks over North Fondy 183-212 66 Hustusford 54 Green Lake over Oaks 189-192 47 Randolph 65 Oaks over Lomira 188-176 Horicon over Oaks 167-186 BOYS JV BASKETBALL OAKS Conference Meet: Oaks took 4th .. For one terrible moment Saturday, March 10, it looked as if the Oaks would once again bring home the silver. Their second-half rally seemed about to fall one point short. The Oaks had to work hard for the win. They came from behind and made up a 12 point deficit, using the press. “We had to go to the press to catch up,” Coach Schreiner said. “It was a case of do or die”. The press was the right strategy as the Oaks went up by one point with just seconds left in the fourth quarter. For Oaks fans that quarter was a heart stopper as the Falcons and Oaks traded leads. With 2 seconds to go Patti Brauer tipped in the winning basket. “After we scored with 2 seconds, I told them to get down court and look for the long pass,” Coach Schreiner said. “Then 1 said DO NOT FOUL . The unthinkable happened: Diane Collien fouled Kitty Nikolay on the inbound pass. The game could have swung either way as Kitty stepped to the line. The game swung to the Oaks as Kitty Nikolay missed the free throw. The Oaks were Class C State Champs! The Oaks brought the trophy home to an enthusiastic welcome as they were greeted at the edge of town and in the gym. The Oaks brought home the gold as they had predicted all year. “That’s all I heard ail year,” Coach Schreiner said, “They said ‘we’re going back to Madison and bring home the gold!” Zournament Scores Oaks 71 Fall River 19 Oaks 41 Cedar Grove 31 63 Elkhart Lake 40 67 Johnson Creek 32 48 Montello 36 79 Pepin 47 49 Abbotsford 48 Photos Courtesy of the Reporter 63 iSBiii Newspaper staff, left to right from rear: Mr. Tritz, Advisor, C. Though small in size they tackled difficult music and situations with enormous self-determination. They realized that true music is more than a funny printed sheet of paper. They felt the illusive magic which occurs beyond the staff lines and expressed it in their songs. Their pride in themselves is just, for with all their accomplishments this year, I feel this is a must. Mr. Kloes being part of the Band this past year meant many hours of long rehearsals which proved to be well worth it when performance time came. The Band members should be proud of themselves because they put forth the extra effort it takes to be part of a special group and to make their stay at OHS more fulfilling.
