The weekend activities started with a parade Friday afternoon, a game Friday night, and the dance Saturday night. The Grand March took place at 10:30 as the Homecoming King, Rick Merk, and Queen, Cindy Baier, led the court through the march. Nights in White Satin was selected for the theme of dance. 28 Homecoming Court Jeff Domke, Kathy Bard, Dale Meyer, Kim Rebedew, Chris Ogle, Katie Laudolff, Mike Redman, Nellorene Pea, Mark Urban, Annette Honald, Mark Whyms, Tana George, King: Rick Merk, Queen: Cindy Baier, Tim Towne, LeeAnn Conklin, Dean Patchett, Renee Stibb, Bill Nolan, Pam Weber, Steve George, Gretchen Waltz, Doug Conklin, Kris Boelk Upper Left: Crowning of Queen, Cindy Baier, by King, Rick Merk. The gym was decorated around the theme Stairway to Heaven , in shades of blue and white with a touch of silver. School Life The purpose of Driver Education is to insure that all students understand the important responsibility they have as future drivers; that all students have die knowledge of laws and the training to drive skillfully and as safely as possible under all traffic and roadway conditions. Every ten minutes of the year there are at least 421 automobile accidents in the United States, 95 persons injured in these accidents and 1 person killed. Driving is for life. Throughout all the courses, the students learn how to get along with others and learn information on being a wise consumer. The Future Homemakers of America started out the year by attending a Fall Rally at Kewaskum, where they met other girls from other FHA chapters in the area. They also completed a fund drive to raise money for their service project, parties, and other activities throughout the year. --Miss Munson 38 learning skills for home and job Over 225 students come to rooms 11 and 12 each day for business classes. They learn skills and information that will help them get jobs and manage their own personal finances. You can see them outside of die classroom, too, duplicating things on the offset press for whoever has a printing job, and assisting in the school office.--Mr. McLean Spanish students go to folk fair second year The Spanish room experienced a few changes this year. A new class was added to the curriculum. It is advanced Spanish, which combines all students beyond the Spanish II level. Secondly, the classroom was brightly decorated with travel agency posters inviting all to visit Spain. And the teacher changed from senorita to senora”! Thirty-seven students from the Spanish classes this year traveled to the Folk Fair in Milwaukee, again returning with souvenirs of crafts, foods, and samples of the foreign cultures. This year's class activities for Christmas included two pinatas and small yarn crafts called ojas de Dios. Also, a tape of the Christmas carols in Spanish was recorded by the beginning Spanish classes.--Mrs. Dehn Our science offerings this year included biology, physical science, chemistry, and physics. There were 42 freshman in one biology class who raised piranhas. Chemistry class made moldy saurkraut and CgH-OH. Remember the day the drain plugged up in chemistry. Also we visited the planetarium in Oshkosh and had pizza after. The physics class ran a naked eye astronomy experiment. Physical science students learned how to break test tubes. We celebrated the day Kathy Bard knew what a kilogram was. We marveled at the special apparatus constructed by Dennis Hensen and Tim Hjelle in physics. And finally our chemistry classes enjoyed their trip to the Horicon Marsh. --Mr. Messner m 42 Mrs. Huber enjoyed introducing a new course of crafts to a large class of 25 students. Classes in advanced drawing and graphics were dropped this year because of low enrollment. Because total enrollment was up, however, the new storage shelves were appreciated. We really enjoyed ceramic painting. In April we sponsored an art show and our new feature this year was sandpainting. - -Mrs. Huber We go to Horicon Marsh and art show 43 A year of mathematics at QMS. The old staff came back: Mr. Messner, in math IV and applied math B, Mrs. Mortenson in algebra, geometry, and trigonometry. The standard model is here--Mrs. Lynch in applied math A and algebra. Mr. Nienhouse proclaims that applied math B students can solve ratios better in physical science, then the other students. Mr. Messner got a new calculator (toy) with everything on it including the kitchen sink. It can even do more things then Tom Havey’s yellow lead pencil. One day Mrs. Lynch made an error in calculating the coefficient of fraction on a curve on Highway D on a snowy morning. Perhaps next year we can learn how to calculate what 10°]o of something is. Now we are all working on the metric system. n 44 Students Show Zheir Skills Upper Middle: Jim Wellnitz working on copper tooling. Three librarians provided services the first semester: Alice Stuewer, Sherry Schmidt and Julie Baeten. A fourth assistant joined us in the second semester Brenda Franke. With student use of library materials increasing year by year, the student librarians' work has been increasing as well. The group meets once a week to enjoy participation in various activities and to derive social value by the enjoyment of each others company. --Mrs. Fink The 1976 Yearbook Staff worked hard to learn the types of jobs involved in making this yearbook. We also sold popcorn at the basketball games. On November 8 we took a field trip to a cancer research lab at the University hospital in Madison. We also visited the Swiss Village at New Glarus. Probably the highlight of the year was the talk presented by Bob Luehn from Lomira, on UFO's. About 50 students found the talk very interesting and thought-provoking. Many OHS students claim to have also seen UFO's. At Christmas time the club went Xmas caroling and afterwards had a great pizza party. Only 5 people got sick from eating too much pizza. Later in the Spring the club held its annual Science Fair and three top winners attended the State Science Fair at Marquette University. We are still looking forward to our annual club picnic somewhere in the woods—maybe by a stream or a hill. --Mr. Messner. 56 JQew director makes kit! The band was very busy during football season preparing a halftime show for each home game. The rest of the year was spent preparing for our Christmas concert, basketball games. Spring Concert, and contest. The main activities of the chorus were the Christmas and Spring Concerts given with the band. The stage band and swing choir had their own Pops concert. A trophy was won at the Indian Invitational and our scoring average improved for the fifth year in a row. Two seniors, McLean and Baeten, won their fourth golf letters. Fifteen boys came out for golf, making it possible to also play a full JV schedule. --Coach McLean With a small squad of young athletes, we depended a lot on our two seniors, Scott Jerabek and Kerry Lamonska, who provided much of die power for our team. Kerry climaxed his season with a conference championship and a good tournament series in which he won third place at the state track meet. —Coach Hamilton 61 The 1975 baseball team consisted of four seniors, three juniors, three sophomores, and four freshman. The 1975-76 cheerleaders have had car washes and sold OAKFIELD hats to raise money. They received superior and outstanding awards at Birch Knoll cheerleading camp, learned new cheers and chants, made posters, and the boys burst through the poster frame they made, held pep rallies and skits to complete an exhausting year. Cheerleaders with pep and enthusiasm bring out the mighty Oakfield Spirit. The reason simply is because he enjoys them. He's been an Oaks fan ever since he was in high school. You may have noticed that basketball is his favorite sport. If you can't see him, you can usually hear him yelling his basketball motto: Three seconds, three seconds! Even though he may complain, we know he thinks a lot of the players and coaches; if he didn't, he wouldn't be there. spl( fiijtlter nations. r blessihgs to the classes be hi e lord bless them and guide f . • '-a:a, ago our forefathers fought for wltat they felt if as right, and t country of ours.
