The dance started at 9:00 p.m., and all danced to the music of the Pandemonium Shadow Show. The gym was decorated with green, blue and yellow streamers, set off by gardens and a fountain. Prom The main event of the evening was the Grand March, climaxed by the crowning of Queen Jo Ann Hanna by King Gene Hofman. The King and Queen danced to the theme song, “Love”, and were later joined by the court. The dancing stopped at 12:30, but the memories will remain for years to come. • i We Lost The Queen Linda King Greg lesterdag Festivities for Homecoming lasted a full week this year. Different activities were held each day, with Thursday being the night of our bonfire. A snake dance was held and the bonfire was lighted by King Greg Collien and Queen Linda Conway. The next day a parade down Main Street took place, with floats representing all classes and clubs. Friday night the Oaks played the Horicon Marshmen. Even though we lost, it didn’t dampen our spirits for the next day. Our homecoming week ended with a dance from 8:30 to 12:30 the following evening. The Grand March began at 10:30, and was climaxed by the crowning of Queen Linda by King Greg. The court members then danced to the tune of our theme song, “Yesterday”, played by the Ben Rheel Quartet. But Won The Weekend D. Boelk, C. Vine, J. Wolfe, P. Hanna, J. Arthurs, G. Osgood, V. It was a comedy, but it had its poignant mements. The Director was Mrs. Ann Brenner, and the lead, Sylvia, was played by Patty Toomey. Sylvia was a teacher fresh from college with an idealistic view towards teaching. The way she finds out the real values of teaching is both funny and touching. The supporting performers were Dawn Schmidt, as Bea Schacter a motherly teacher. Bill Hollander as Paul Barringer, the good looking English teacher, Dave Ogle, as Mr. McHabe, the tough administrator, and Dave Baeten as Joe Ferone, the smart but misdirected student. There was a large cast, 30 people in all. Our cast fit easily in the roles of students, and lines from the play popped up in actual classrooms long after the play was over. Special thanks were given to the art department for the beautiful psychedelic set. They worked a long time on it, and it turned out very well. The high point of the play was when Sylvia, after almost giving up, finally wins over Joe, and a student she thought had dropped out returns. The assistant director was Richard Burbach, who did a very good job. The lighting was effectively handled by Armond Pahnke, and Jim Dowidat. Team spirit and interest of fans has increased, and the win record compares well for a second-year team. Plans are being made to establish a yearly invitational tournament at Oak-field. With about ten returning letter-men next year, the coach is looking forward to a team that will have to be reckoned with. GOLF is the new sport this year. In April the team will begin practice at Camelot and compete in meets with other schools. Schools compete with teams of five golfers, counting the four best scores. Players own their own equipment. To play golf well, the boys must give constant attention to developing and retaining many skills. They also learn to concentrate, to exercise self-control, and to appreciate fair-play. The reward? Satisfaction in the mastery of a game that can be played for a life-time. FIRST ROW: R.Lerch,B. Hollander, SECOND ROW: M. Krueger, D. D. Ogle, D. Bell, D. Mayhew. Baeten, J. Paul, Mr. McLean. Cheerleaders NouJ Cheer B'Teant Linda Pipping Patty Ennis Susie Seyfert Vickie Gibson Patty Scharschmidt For Three Sports This year you can hear our cheerleaders cheering for a new sport-wres-tling. They enjoy this new activity, finding wrestling a very exciting and competitive sport to cheer for. Both squads of cheerleaders attended cheerleading camps, the Varsity going to Eau Clair, and the J-V’s going to Platteville. Fans can see the results of camp attendance at our athletic contests in the form of new cheers, new formations, and increased precision and rhythm. A special goal of the girls this year is to earn money to send next year’s cheerleaders to camp. Let’s hear it for the cheerleaders!
