SENIOR CLASS PROPHECY Deciding to take a trip, Robert Gruenfelder and I (Larry Conrad) left the busy city of Oakfleld. We left for the west coast by airplane, and who did we see but Pat Stens as our airline hostess. Arriving at sunny California we took a taxi from the airport and discovered the driver was Eddie Uttendorfer. We told him to show us the town. While riding around we saw a sign that read, Ludwig's Chicken Ranch, which was owned and operated by the one-and-only Ruth Ludwig. Touring the Ranch we asked Ruth about entertainment. She informed us that Vernon Riese and Gerald Mingus were wrestling for the World Featherweight Championship that night. And the referee being none other than Fair-and-square, Albert Messner. After the wrestling matches we went down Broadway and saw a sign that read TONIGHT II! ADAM and EVE starring that handsome hunk of man, Ronald Schnleder, and playing the role of Eve was that beautiful blonde, Carol Turville. Leaving California we headed for Mexico. In Mexico, we went to a used-car lot and found that the owner was Flashy Dan Schrank. After buying a car we continued on our Journey intoMexico. Driving by a Jumping-bean field we saw Jose (Joel) Ryan, running a Jumping-bean reaper. He told us that Keith Lerch was very busy running his five-acre ranch in Texas, which was infested with oil wells. As we were leaving Joel, we noticed a police car chasing a blue and white 47 Chev. The driver of the police car was Fearless Dave Volbright after Leadfoot Bill Kusllts, who had Just made a minor violation. After leaving Mexico, we decided to travel to Florida where the Judging of Miss America was taking place, and who should be at the cop of the list but Susan Demond. And of course, Judging the event was Tom Ryan, who had always had his eye on her. Traveling on, we noticed signs about drag racing. Following the signs we came to the strip. After we got into our seats, the races started and the announcer said Car No. 1 was the Barton-Sohnelder Special. After the race we went down into -the pits and talked with Clair and Tom about old times. Bidding them farewell we went on our merry way. Traveling to Miami we decided to stay in a Motel overnight where we were surprised when we found Rudy Jaeger as owner and Arlan Zill3 as the bellboy. The next morning we went downtown to have breakfast and discovered that the head cook was Sydney Cowles and the waitress was Carol Kaufman. They informed us that Sharon Raube was getting married. So we decided to attend the wedding, and found that the ring bearer was Robert Perry. Starting the long Journey back to Oakfield, we went through Paris Island, North Carolina and visited Raymond Abits, taking his basic training in the Karine Corp. After leaving P. I. we met a school bus and the driver was Charlie Sass, who was throwing apples at passing cars. We failed to stop when the red lights on the school bus were flashing. We didn't think too much of it until a woman cop told us to pull over to t he side and were we surprised to see that the woman cop was Barbara Willie. Since she knew us, she Just gave us a warning. Driving along we saw Sergeant Raymond Schmidt commanding his small troop along a side road. Then going through Fond du Lac on our way home, Bob and I stopped at Gilles for a tite to eat. Wfe sat there for about five minutes. I said to Bob, Don't you hear someone asking, May I help you? I looked around but didn't see anyone, then suddenly I looked down the side of my Hot Chevrolet and saw Sandy Terrian. We could see that she hadn't grown an inch. After we finished eating we went to Oakfield. As we were walking past a new house that ted Just been built, we saw paint flying this-a-way, and that-a-way all over, in and out of the windows, coming out of the chimney, so we decided to investigate. Here we saw Pauline Vermillion as an interior decorator i and that girl from South Byron, Pat Redman, as her assistant. After talking to them we decided to go home, making it the last stop of our short, short trip. P.S. The Senior Class of 59 paid for our trip. OUR JUNIOR ROM The King and Queen and Court of honor were as follows: Prom King—Thomas Ryan Prom Queen—Susan Demond Albert Messner ----- Pauline Vermillion Joel Ryan --------- Barbara Willie Edward Uttendorfer ----- Patricia Stenz Rudolph Jaeger - - - ------ Carol Kaufman Robert Gruenfelder ------ Sharon Raube Larry Conrad - -- -- -- - Sydney Cowles At one end of the gym a mural of a mountain scene was painted on the entire length of the wall, with a small farm in the foreground and a creek running through mountains and hills. The creek extended from the mural into a stream of water which flowed under a bridge and was surrounded by a rock garden. Leading to the bridge were lannon stone steps on which the court stood. On the front of the bridge the theme was formed in rustic wooden letters. The ceiling of the gym was decorated with blue-green crepe paper. A silver star with blue and white blinking lights hung from the center of the gym and a revolving crystle ball extended down from the star. The punch stand was an old-fashioned well, with a bucket hanging from the center, from which the punch was served. The opposite end of the gym was decorated with a blossoming apple tree, and behind the tree the words to our theme song, April Love, were written. The stage on which Harry Rothman and His Orchestra played, was decorated with pink and white crepe paper weaved together. The King and Queen and the Court of Honor entered the gym through a large red and white heart. They walked around the gym and ascended the bridge, where the King and Queen were crowned. Thus ended the unforgettable night of April 25, 1958. Music was furnished by Jimmy Hartwlg and his orchestra. The gymnasium was decorated to fit the holiday season. Extending from the celling were 1,500 white balloons, tissue bells, tissue balls and crepe paper. A large mural of a winter scene covered one end of the gym, while at the other was a large fireplace holding stockings bearing names of all of the seniors. Christmas trees helped to fill in the extra space in the gym. In the center of the celling was our crystal ball with three new colored spot lights shining on It. Punch was served from a punch stand which represented a snowman. About a month before the Formal we had a contest on writing and displaying their talent for all of the girls Interested In becoming Snowball queen. A team of Judges made up of the four class presidents and three teachers selected five finalists. These five finalists conducted a campaign for student votes. After the campaign we had an election. All of the high school students voted on secret ballots. No one knew who the queen was until the night of the dance. The queen, Sydney Cowles, was crowned by Mr. Brelt-kreutz. The finalists were each presented with an award certificate. After the dance the court, the finalists and their partners and some of the parents, together with the king and queen, were Invited to the home of Mr. and Mrs. Earl Krueger, where refreshments were served.
