Foreword Each year, we as class graduates begin our flight into the unknown-some knowing their destinationg others, not knowing where they will land. Our school acts as our spaceship, waiting for the countdown, and graduation, the day we blast off into our future. ln this era in history, since science and the exploration of space are progressing so rapidly it seems appropriate to use this theme -OUT OF THIS WORLD. i r l V MR. SALVATORE CERRI MR. LAWRENCE WILSON Dedication L I l 2 l.., ,,, WH What would we ever do without our advisors, Mr. Lawrence Wilson and Mr. Salvatore Cerri? That question was asked many times through the year during the production of the ORACLE. Mr. Cerri was always available to help us with the running comment and write-ups, and Mr. Wilson with the lay-outs and art work. This is one of the many reasons why we would like to dedicate this year- book to you-OUR ADVISORS. l r- iw d ll rl, ' Hill? ea, if d X X Milf Table ol Contents Foreword And Dedication 2 Oracle Stall 4 Administration 5 Classes II Activities 45 Athletics 65 Advertising 79 3 Z, Xxx! You as students have the exciting opportunity of witnessing and participa- ting in events that your grandparents, and even your parents would say could never happen. Can you imagine a vacation trip to one of the nearby planets, Venus or Mars? This may soon be a possibility. What an opportunity! You and all of your generation have a challenge given to no other people who have lived on this earthg a challenge to make this truly man's greatest enlightened age. May it be an age of peace, prosperity, and great achievement, and may you humbly and sincerely purpose in your hearts to make it such. DISTRICT PRINCIPAL Administration Mr. George A. This year fifteen of the Band's members rep- resented 0.A.C.S. in the All-County Band and Or- chestra. The year was successfully started by giving a Thanks- giving school assembly program and helping in the pro- duction of The Greatest Story ever Toldw in cooperation with the band and the dramatics club. The delightful assortment of carols added much to the spirit of Christmas in the area. The Spring Concert was given with a few of the favorite numbers. l Many of this year's members will also be participating in the County Music Festival which this year will be held in Oakfield. After long and hard rehearsals they skillfully mastered their parts under the directing of Mr. Cerri, their advisor, and Rhoda Dickens, their student director. They all had an enjoyable time presenting the play. We greatly appreciated the help of Mr. Henry, the Stagecraft Club, the lighting, make-up and publicity committees and everyone else who helped to make the play possible. Camera Club C Although we have not completed a great deal in the line of picture taking we have accomplished one of the hardest task in photography, or- ganization. The second great task we have completed is cleaning out and cleaning up the darkroom. Our equip- ment has seen much hard use in form- er years but with much diligence and hard work we have gotten most of it working. We are hoping for one, two short trips this spring to Rochester and the Graflex Camera Plant. We may also try to get to the Lilac Festival this spring in Rochester. Our hope for next year is to be able to recruit more 1 people that are genuinely interested in photography of all phases, taking, pro- cessing, printing, enlarging, and color Work. Through the cooperation of Mr. Henry and the members of the club, visual and audio education offerings are made available to all students and teachers. Five boys from each of the senior high classes make up the club. The of- ficers are Tom Lowe, President, Stephen Gabriel, Vice-President, and Douglas Hale, Secretary. The members also learn about ,commercial audio-visual equipment and techniques through field trips. The club has a variety of movie filmstrips, and slide projectors, wire and tape recorders, public address and record playing equipment. This year the club acquired a new Opaque pro- jector. The completion of a first rate rifle range in the school basement, has stepped up the tempo of activity in the rifle range. It has further made pos- sible the future acquisition of live am- munition in .22 rifles. In the past year the pellet rifles have been used to indoctrinate the members with the finer points of firearms safety. The club has availed itself of several fire- arm safety films in the course of the year. A considerably smaller number of members has enabled the participants to shoot more frequently than before. Away They G For the second time in five years since our return to 11-man football, Oakfield Ala- bama Central has produced another fine championship football team. Even their op- ponents referred to them as certainly a very fine team. Their brilliant playing and sportsmanlike conduct at all times warmed the hearts of their mentors, Coach Mahlon Hamilton and his assistant Edward Suther- land, as they copped the Oatka Football Con- ference championship with an undefeated season of six wins and no losses. Spearheading the varsity attack were Co-captains, Quarterback Ray Zigrossi and Guard Tom Jenkins. 0akfield's ground game was led by the powerful Fullback Gerald Hale and fleet footed Halfbacks Larry Wvhite, ,lim Stevens and Larry Klotzbach. Though he had never coached basketball helore, Mr. Calzi rapidly realized the potential of his squad members. All of the freshman and sophomore memhers showed great form and poise in compiling this fine record. The most notalmle feature ol the season was the double defeat our 1-agers adminis- tered to Corfu: these incidentally were the only setbacks they suffered. Coach Edward Sutherland will he guiding the reins and with many excellent J.V. players competing for their positions, the varsity boys will have to give a good account in order to keep their place on the team. This season O.A.C.S. will be competing in the B-league Where they will play 10 league games in place of the 4 they played in A-league competition. This should be a great incentive for the boys to carry the Blue and Gold to victory as they have in other sports this year. We Deliver Phone WH 8-3281 Oakfield, New York The Corner Drugstore America's corner drugstore has changed, of course, from the old days when it featured nose-tingling lemon phosphates, big jars of horehound and rock candy in bulk, and dozens of haunting drug smells. They have all gone with the times. But the drugstore still occupies one of the busiest crossroads of ordinary American life, and is still a meeting place and clearinghouse for daily living. With all its streamlining and wonder products on the shelves, the modern corner drugstore adds proof to the old adage that the more things change, the more they remain the same . lt still occupies its old place on one of the busiest corners of American life.
