A school like O A C S with two bands' Can't you see our dazzling uniforms as we march briskly to the football field blaring forth The Thunderer 'P Can't you hear us putting the final polish on Dragnet on Tuesday and Thursday mornings during our regular practices in the auditorium? Did you fully appreciate the rich background strains of 'Silent Night' and other carols in the Christ mas pageant? Did you note the en thusiasrn with which those chosen for All State band rehearsed TV Suite Can't you recall the pride of our dir ector as we presented our annual Spring Concert and finally listen again to the applause after we finished playing our school pep tune On Wisconsin at the senior Class Night L Re 1tz E Krmer exercises? Looking forward to these same satisfactions are the members of our Junior Band which serves as a feeder for our Senior Band Nevertheless it 1 an entity of its own and part1c1 pates in a Spring Concert of its own This group enables pupils of all de grees of musical ability to master the technique of regular instruments and to cooperate in a group effort where they may learn that tooting their own horns too loudly may spoil the general effect What's more they are developing a musical appreciation that will stay with them all their lives and will particularly make them wish to continue their musical act ivities in high school So strike up the bands and show those students not in the bands what they are missing! The best shots were selected to carry the banner of our Alma Mater. A tour of the arms plant and a series of talks on safety in the use of firearms were features ofthe program. The climax of hours and hours of practice in the auditorium and in room 101, this meet, in addition to developing a sense of competition, promises to reap results in coming years in the way of shoulder-to-shoulder matches with schools in the im- mediate vicinity. PROJECTION CLUB Much knowledge and enjoy- ment came from trips to Eastman House and WHAM television studios in Rochester and to Corning Glass Works. These boys sacrificed their free periods to show more than 675 films to various grades and classes under their officers -- Jimmy Hogle, Richard Wickham, and John Richardson. ART CLUB The Art Club is composed of advanced art students, who in suc- cession are in charge of stage- craft work, dance decorations, and worthwhile community projects. Their talents may be seen in the form of signs, posters, and other displays of art or printing, As each member is an important part of the group, there are no officers. DRAMATICS CLUB Everyone looks forward to the annual Dramatics Club play, this year Junior Miss , The fine pre- sentation was a tribute to those who played the stellar roles - Betty Bostrom, Darrell Hale, Ar- thur Jenkins, Barbara Ohs, Pearl Pearlson, Mary Sinclair, Mary Skelton, and Billy Walls, as well as to the officers - Robert Klotz bach, Barbara Quible, Marilyn Schildwaster, and Mary Sinclair 'K B -10 UHKHI CLUBS SUPEHIUH IH UHIIHIIIEIH HHD USE CLA, FRENCH CLUB Bon jour - is what you're likely to hear as you meet a French Club member in the corridor in the morn- ing, Members have had an opportunity to learn about France and to use the language in an informal, entertaining manner, A puppet show by the seventh grade French students and refreshments won by playing allez-op were memorable features of their meetings, CAMERA CLUB Composed of nine high school boys, the Camera Club takes pictures of every occasion, filing many of them for future reference, Developing is done in the school darkroom during free periods. Out in back of the school on pleasant fall afternoons, you could see some of these girls, whacking at a hockey putt -- and their shins -- or kicking a soccer ball -- and someone else's shins. During the stormy winter months you would find them busy with bowling at Doc's Bowling Alleys or active in volleyball or basketball in the gym. These girls attended Bowling Play Day at Holley: Rose Nicometo, Wanda Hale, June Fidinger, Mary Sinclair, and Gail Skinner: expert seniors participating in the Basketball Play Day at Batavia High School were Jennie DiMatteo, Josephine Caruso, Rose Nicometo, Alice Carroll, Irene Roth, Frances Brumsted, Shirley Iosey, and Wanda Hale. Shirley Josey and Audrey Sturm were chosen members of the All Star Team of the Tri-county Girls' Athletic Association, Shirley Josey represented the school at Swimming Play Day at the Batavia Y. Volleyball Play Day, the BIG event, was held at our school. When the warm weather returned, it was outside again for the girls, yelling their heads off over softball, or searching in and around the bushes for lost arrows. Some of them at times might be seen on the playground, having a strenuous game of tennis. Their numerals, shields, school letters, and occasional gold keys will become cherished mementoes of such experiences. At Christmas time they went caroling. Besides assisting in the physical education program, these girls gave a party for the basketball players on March 5 and took charge of the Volleyball Play Day held at our school, After school on Friday they played basketball under Mrs, Cartwright's supervision.
