The members work hard after school to learn a repertoire of up-to-date compositions to include in the concert program. i During football season the Marching Band is busy preparing precision drills for pre-game and half-time shows. Dressed in blue and gray, the band presents a striking appearance and helps to keep school spirit high. Under the leadership of Ava Fazekas, Drum Maiorette, the band snaps through its formations for the spectators. lt also represents Oakcrest by participat- ing in many parades in nearby communities. The Marching Band was awarded trophies this year for its outstanding performances in the Collingswood Festival of Bands and at Glassboro State College Band Field Day. This year's Concert Band is the largest band Oakcrest has ever had. Stirring music can be heard echoing throughout the school whenever the band, under the direction of Mr. Tobias, is rehearsing. lts aim is to learn good band literature. The band's first performance of the year is a festive Christmas Concert and its last duty is to play for Commencement. In between, it plays for many assembly programs and goes on a concert tour to other schools. stylus The editorial staff of the Stylus, th school literary magazine, is composed c students who have shown great interes in creative writing. The editors review and edit the material submitted by stc dent writers. They also develop layout and illustrations for the magazine. Cree tivity is even more important now ii an age which craves new ideas and nev methods. These individuals who contrib ute to the Stylus are therefore reaching our challenge.
