On one hand it is practicing what is taught and on the other, teaching what is practiced, Besides school and het' family activities, Mrs, Struxness is a sponsor ot the senior class, Home Economics Club aid a representative to M O,R.E.A, Program Committee. Music and reading pro- vide hier greatest relaxation. The purpose at the Home Economics Clula is to further the aftivities and interests initiated in classes and to provide experience which can come only in working closely in group relationships, The meetings are social as well as educational. al language Members of the Rhythm-Aires seem nervous before a performance. Don't worry Howard, your group will be successful as always, The band includes John Banta, Dean Humphrys, Carroll Broyles, Eddie Huffman, Bill Eppes, Jimmy Moretz, Neill Thomasson, Mac Peacock, Rock Hudson, Dewey Strickland, Pat Mclntyre, Howard Horn, David Cottrell, Richie Blackerby, and Jerry Africk. Barbara Ballenger is the W 'E ki Xtftw MJ' XJ Prof, the band's favorite, is also a favorite around the school as a willing helper in the musical activities. Besides teaching bond, girls' chorus and instrumental music, Mr. Scarbrough is sponsor of the senior class and the Rhythm- Aires, He has a fine tenor voice and enjoys playing the clarinet. His favorite sports in- clude bowling, horseback riding, and slow- pitch softball. vocalist. Adding to the enioyment of the halftime activities are our maiorettes who are Judy Evans, Dola Faye Terry, Nancy Bowman, Nancy Anne Reed, and Joy Stout. Bobby Cassell, Ross Clark, Phil Rounsaville, Billy Meeks, Tom Wall, Dewey Strickland, Pat Mclntyre, Bob Blackwell, Howard Horn. A wealth of knowledge - Library Science trains the students by actual practice in shelf-reading, catalogu- ing, indexing and various activities related to maintaining the library. ln our school one full credit is aiven for completion ot the course. i RY TO H15 E -3 - E! Love of books and devotion to work make Miss Cebrat an exceptional librarian Besides teaching library science and helping various classes and in div: uals find research m terial he s qu te enthusiastic artist and talented in music She has been featured with the UT and Oak Ridge Symphonies in solo parts at various times. Last summer she spent teaching at Pennsylvania State University, Mrs. Seaman, assistant librarian, does sec- retarial work and assists in innumerable other ways, Students often depend upon her for help in tracking down material. Of course, Mrs. Seaman's main interest is her family. A student-teacher relationship exists in our library, The students themselves have set up their own restraining rules and are striving to keep the library among the best and truly a teenager's workshop. A library should not only house books and supply a place for research and study, but should reflect and stimulate interests of students. Such is the aim behind the outstanding exhibits, dis- plays, record collections, him strips, and current magazines which are always available to us.
