Student Administration Student administration is the democratic and ettective method ot selt-government by means ot which students regulate their school, themselves, and their activities. ln Qak Park l-ligh School student government takes the torm ot the Student Council, Satety Council, and Smoking Council. Student Council is the most important con- necting link between the authorities and the students. The council is composed ot boys and girls elected proportionately trom all the classes. lt discusses problems such as cheerleading, lunchroom behavior. and hall monitoring, and this year initiated a student suggestion box. lts members serve the school individually as guides at 'outdoor assemblies and at the PTA meetings, and as aides in school emergencies. Student administration ot satety at Oak Park means direction ot trattic on the school blocks, supervision ot bicycles, and a con- tinuous campaign tor satety. Through spe- cially delegated committees each satety problem is etticiently dispatched. Satety Council can be proud ot the school's record. Smoking Council entorces the otticial smok- ing rules. The boys on the Council are elected trom the iunior and the senior classes, and handle their own problems without a taculty adviser. 8l

0l 2ll!0l meet .MLW .3010 , a typical Dooper who will take you through the year at Oak Park and River Forest Township High School. Unojji- cially he has been around the school for a long time, now that more students know him and talk about him, we present him to you formally and ojficially. Hugo represents all the students, both girls and boys, from the slightly bewildered new freshmen to the self-conjident old seniorsg and in following his progress through the year you will become acquainted with all school activities in the classroom and out. Hugo is an average student who studies enough and who always has an eye out for a good time., Maybe he's that new freshman in your gym class or that ananoying person in your English class who always does his homework. Per- haps he's the one who walked all over your toes at the Junior Prom, or the friend with whom you share an occasional coke, He may be the joker who put confetti down your g back at the Proviso Game. He may be your best friend. You will watch him with his companions studying, taking part in activities, being an avid spectator at all games and plays, going to parties, and jinally emerging in June, contented with the past year, and ready and eager for the future. l20T
