w Page 14 Miss White Miss Dawson Mrs. Bell SUDEIQVISDIQS' UFFICE This is Where the student records are kept. Here each and every student is stamped, wrapped, shelved and catalogued for all time. Each Freshman, early in his career, receives a dread summons to a mysterious room known only as 243. This room is in a hidden corner where no Freshmen has as yet trod. Fear- fully he feels his way through ghostly passageways which creak beneath his lonely footsteps, through shadowy corridors and darkened rooms, until at last in a musty cell he is arraigned before blazing, glowering lights. Just below his shoulders is placed his number fthey do not fingerprint him until he has been convicted at least oncej. There is a quick, blinding flash and the deed is done. He has been corralled and branded for the records. The SZLI7l'l'L'iS01'S are in an adjoining 'room

and has nz word of greeting for us: Welcome to our school. I am glad to see you. I am sorry to have kept you Waiting but I was talking With that senior boy about his college plans. He wants to be an engineer. He has a fine record here, has met all of the requirements for admission to college, but like so many others this year, does not yet see where the other require- mentsn are coming from. However, he will ind a Way or make one, I am sure. We take a great deal of pride in our boys and girls and the splendid records they make when they enter college or the business World. Although this has been a year of general strain throughout the land, the class of 1952 with the inspiring cooperation of faculty and students has accomplished many fine things. We are looking for even greater achievements from them as they go on. I hope you will see much of them and their teachers not only as invi- viduals but in their group activities. I should like to accompany you on your Way, but I shall have to leave you in charge of the editors. I know they will prove very competent guides and will make your visit a pleasant one. Thank you, Mr. McDaniel, we shall try to do so. Page 13

Sfd7ldi1lgTMlSS Blackburn Mr. O'Brien Mr. Bobbitt Sitting-Mr. Ketcham Miss Weckel Miss Bennett SUDEIQVISCIDS Again the council of six meets to confer upon some momentous question which needs their urgent attention. The students are not privileged to see the supervisors in a group like this very often although all of us at one time or another, come, willingly, and sometimes not so willingly, to talk to them apart. Miss Weckel and Mr. Ketcham are kind friends to all wavering freshies as they struggle through the tortures of their first year away from home. f The Sophomore advisors, Miss Blackburn and Mr. O'Brien, are able indeed to govern the growing youngsters who become too obstreperous when they learn that they have become Sophomores. When at last the proud and haughty upperclassmen become too overbearing, Miss Bennett and Mr. Bobbitt adequately produce the desired effect of curbing their exultant natures. So by the time Mr. McDaniel takes charge of the class as Seniors, they are ready to manifest some semblence of self- possession. On the shoulders of this group rests, perhaps, as great a responsibility as there can be in a school, that of adjusting four thousand individuals to their new and strenuous environ- ment. Now Iefs meet the faculty . Page 15
