We entered Oak Park Hospital School of Nursing as fledgling nurses imbued with the desire to alleviate suffering and dedicated to our chosen profession. Classes were our guide to knowledge and we found that learning was listening, observing, reading, and thinking. The doing came after capping when we had more contact with patients . . . the feeling of responsibility contributing much to our sense of accomplishment. Class unity was strengthened as we worked on our class proiects and enioyed the social events which we sponsored. Memories of assignments, tests and the many tears of frustration are softened by the sound oflaughter and the comfort of com- panionship. Together, we realized that we must know the why and the how before we could become the nurse of our dreams. Z3
