Freshmen Lay A Strong Foundation The freshman class this year is the largest group ever entering Oak Park High School. They represent over one third of the total school population. For their first function they presented a dance, which was held on November 17, 1961, entided the Harvest Hop : It was enjoyed by all who attended and was a success both socially and financially. Though the freshman class is just beginning high school life, thej ' have excelled in school spirit, which is the most important factor in maintaining a success- ful class, and have laid a solid foundation for their coming high school years. UNDERCLASS The following section is devoted to the recognition of the underclass. The underclass is not merely com- posed of freshmen, sophomores and juniors. It is an organized group of people who represent the majority of school spirit and scholarly ideas. They are the ones who must take over the reigns of leader- ship at the exit of each senior class. In the eyes of many seniors, an underclassman is considered almost a nonentity, however, his position should be recognized for the importance which he plays in high school affairs. 22
