LACK OF EXPERIENCE HURTS MATMEN Lack of experience was the main reason for Oak Park ' s poor showing this season. Many experienced wrestlers left because of graduation, after school jobs, or various other reasons. Coach Dick Walden was forced to rely mainly on inexperienced sophomores and juniors. The few experienced men this year were plagued by injuries to further Coach Walden ' s troubles. Next year, though, things look brighter for our matmen, as almost the whole team will be returning. ' 61 season gets undenvay. Oak I ' ark High School ' arsity Basketball reached a new plateau this year. The Redskins ' squad not only won its first Oakland B trophy bv sharing the title, but had its most successful season as yet witl II wins against 5 losses. The determined squad had a 3 and 2 league ' record before thev turned on the gas. They were not defeated again until Fitzgerald upset them 48-47. In this string of victories, there were important wins over such teams as Co- Champion Avondale, second place Troy, and stubborn Lake Orion. The team this year was led bv all conference seniors. Captain Steve Dressier, Steve Carpman, Dave Pink, and Di: e Stewart. Robliie Goldenberg and Dennis Pink also were starters and added great strength to the winning games. Gary C.utterman and A Rubv added fine bench strength. Balanced scoring was the key to success as Dressier, Carpman, Goldenberg, Pink, and Stewart all averaged in double figures — a distinction held bv few teams. Carpman, Goldenberg, and Pink also formed the strongest rebounding triangle in the league. Coach Paul Bovd feels this vcar was a success and is looking forivard to next year ' s team with great o)nimism, for if things go right.
