The student council co-ordinates extra-curricular activities, promotes school spirit, works for cooperation be- tween the students, faculty and administration and embodies the practice of democratic citizenship. With a new advisor, Mr. lames Beadle, the student council promoted a number of worthwhile activities during the 1959-60 school year. Among these were the sponsorship of the Homecoming pep rally and dance, and the Bermuda Hop and car wash to aid the American Field Service exchange student fund. They also operated the used bookstore and handled the elec- tion of council officers. Oak Park's student council holds membership in both the Oakland B Conference Student Council and the National Association of Student Councils. As the one organization that represents and speaks for all students, the student council is a vital segment of our school life.
