M -ef' - my t,y.,vnf I f-i f l Jw' -E Record holder Chuck Miles demonstrates his winnjng form as he prepares to top his 10 foot mar . Speed to Burn We have the incentive and the experience, but we need depth. This was the '59 pre-season comment of Coach Paul Boyd. The incentive stems mainly from a desire to capture the Oakland B trophy as we will meet each of the six other Oak- land B teams in individual dual meets. We are also participating in the Thurston Invitational, the Dick Waters Relays at Monroe, the U. of D. Relays and the G.P.U.S. Relays. The incentive is there. Five trackmen graduated last June but Coach Boyd is hoping to see the bulk of his speedsters returning. Gary Pacernick, co- captain of last years squad, will be in uniform as will Ray Kovachevich, last seasons' high point man. Others to be feared by opposing coaches are James Dunn, Peter Kroopnick, Charley Miles, Errol Sweet, Eugene Lumberg, Richard Adams, and David Fein. For many, this will be their fourth season on the O.P.H.S. track squad. If enough strong runners and agile field event men come out , Coach Boyd will have his depth problem settled and we can look forward to a highly successful season. i v .
