l Throughout the past thirteen years, Oak Park has evolved from a modern shin -new school building to a melfow tradition in the Northland area. The physical growth of the building is far reaching. From the original installation of the big OP, to the sign on 79th Terrace, to the new broadcasting equipment, Oak Park has adapted to constantly changing needs of the students, faculty and administration. Yet, the physical changes are only visible reminders of more intricate, pervasive changes in the philosophy and attitudes governing Oak Park. From the beginning, Oak Park has been referred to as a liberal, modern institution. The curriculum, student-teacher relationships, and administrative policies frequently serve to substantiate this. Regen era ting Yet, Dr. Dan Kahler, the school board, teachers and students have all worked to strike a balance between various facets of policy- makin . Obviously, the adapta- tions qiave not perfected the s stem. Flaws still persist, but the fllexibility illustrated shows that Oak Park is not stagnant - it is a growing, changingl institution. Throughout t e years, CAM- BIA has attempted to record this rowth. By definition, cambium, from which CAMBIA is derived, denotes the rings formed around a tree recording the tree's annual growth. The history of the seasons is captured in the ringls of the tree. Like the cambium, t e GAMBIA is a history of growth. As you turn the page, a history of the 1977-78 school year at Oak Park will unfold.
