J 9 v' I G 43- fu Q' 'LQ Walls covered with paintings and sketches, original designs for a dress, innovation on a static concept - CREAT- ING. Evidence of creative talents being developed are illustrated in every facet of Gak Park. Whether a student is carefully carving an intricate sculpture, composing a term paper or devising a precise scientific Crea ting experiment has little bearing on whether or not each is creating. The end result of a concrete, tangible item is not a determing factor. There is more creation taking place here than is initially visible. In every department, students develop the ability to think in new and varied terms. A great deal of emphasis is placed on innovating and improving past creations, not just in repeating them. Classroom activities include a varied course of discussion, studying, testing. New modes of teaching involve adaptation and innovation on traditional concepts. Modular schedul- ing, independent study, and the option of pass-fail grades in many classes allow students and teachers to utilize resources to their best advantage. Increased participa- Curriculum tion in these specialized programs creates new incentives to work within Oak Park's educational system. 2001, Selling, Consumer Awareness, American Military History specialize and expand on conventional themes in educa- tion. From traditional to unusual, Oak Park's curriculum in 1977-78 offered a variety of classes. From these, students chose the courses suited to their educational goals. 7 rr ' V Q ff f ,. ,. , , ,,, QJI, N t I li. I , , r... ..,. ..f, -
