4 Assistants Provide Extra Help Resource center assistants helped stug dents and teachers find numerous books, maps, and charts for study purposes. Along with study materials came fines, keep- ing down talking, stapling test papers together, and giving tests to absent students. The job of assisting in a resource area is somewhat hard and quite time consuming. Some assistants kept themselves even more busy by monitoring halls. Students Explore English E nglish classes endeavored to learn the proper use of the English language in speaking and writing and to appreciate and comprehend all types of literature. Small group meetings of English classes centered on discussions of literature and more per- sonalized help for each student. Large group meetings made class productions, films, and guest speakers possible. English students found the English resource center to be highly beneficial to them as they studied literature, created essays and compositions, or read purely for enjoyment. On an average day,,35 to 49 students occupied this area on unscheduled mods and ap- proximately 11U books were checked out per day. The instructional assistants, Mrs. Virginia Chapman and Mrs. Nancy Richards, made an attempt to know as many students as they possibly could.
