'elax on as they year as rthman. uccessful athletic programs and avid enthusiasm placed Oakies once again in the realms of rec- ognition. Spirit boosters Susan Bauerle and Jeff Bailey served Oak Park as Norma and Norman Northmen. Their endeavors centered on the spirit fog' which promoted pep at games and rallies. The pep generated from the open log consistently lifted player morale and reminded team members of the Northmen devotion which helped Oakies reach state competition in five sports. Sports captains held the team together throughout the disappointment of defeat and shared with teammates the sweetness of victory. The '70 football team was hoisted to the state semi-final berth under captains Doug Link, Mike Reynolds and Mark Weissenbach. Grapplers, under the leader- ship of Doug Link and Mark Weissenbach, upheld their renowned reputation. Jim Schneider and Larry Settle, as basketball captains, produced the most victorious roundball team in the history of the school. Spring sports led by track captains, Ken Geest, Barry Schneider and Robin Willsie, and base- ball captains, Alan Parks and Don Dillahunty, capped off the year with a successful effort.
