WICTSAIRE Seniors: As we leave OLCHS to take up new challenges | want to share three thoughts with you. First, you will find that life is not easy, no matter what your calling. Perhaps it ought to be, but it never has been and it is unlikely that it will ever be. However, life is challenging and very rewarding and you have a great deal of control over what your life is and will be. Second, bricks and buildings do not make homes, companies, businesses, communities and in general. Rather, it is people who are the essential ingredient. It is what they are, what they do, how they do it and how they interact that makes society what it is. And third, as you con- tinue to develop your talents and abilities and strive to achieve the goals that you have set for yourself, remember this — it is what you do when you don't have to do it that adds quality to your life. Good luck to each of you. | hope you can attain a quality in your life that is satisfying to you both inwardly and L, AM Uke Mr. Harold F. Wiltshire, superintendent of Oak Lawn Com- munity High School for the past eleven years, retired in January, 1986. OLCHS opened its doors in 1952 and Mr. Wiltshire joined the staff in 1953. His first duties were as a classroom teacher in Math and Physical Education. He also coached football and wrestling. In 1958 Mr. Wiltshire became an administrative assistant. In 1970 he assumed the duties of Assistant Superintendent in charge of financé. 1976 saw him elected as the Superintendent. Mr. Wiltshire said he has no definite plans after retirement. However, after a long vacation he hopes to still work in education, but not the long hours that being a Superinten- dent demand. He resides in Oak Lawn with his wife Dorry. The Wiltshire’s children: Rick, Bob and twin girls, Rhonda and Sondra are all graduates of OLCHS. Y f | OUR NEW SUPERINTENDENT — MR. DOMINICK FRIGO Mr. Dominick Frigo became the new Superintendent in January 1986. Mr. Frigo was previously the Director of Student Activities, | Special Education and Public Relations. ‘}} He came to Oak Lawn High School in 1973. Prior to that he vs é worked for Elmwood Park District 401 as Director of Pupil Per- sonnel Services and Publicity; Assistant Principal at H.L. Richards High School, Northwest Building; was teacher, counselor and coach at Kankakee Unit District 111. Class of 1986: As you reflect on the past four years, be proud of your accomplishments and savor the friendships that wege made. You are leaving OLCHS with many of the skills necessary to help you meet your new goals. Even more important than the skills you have acquired are the attitudes that you have formed and learned. At- . titudes determine the nature and quality of life which a person lives. They are more _ powerful than either skills or intelligence. — ween success and failure. Dr. Norman Vincent Peale wrote: ‘You can think your way to failure and unhappiness but you — can also think your way to success and look, how we feel, what we say and do, and how we perceive the world around us. Whenever a person thinks positive thoughts, he creates an atmosphere of success around him. He begins to change. He feels better about himself and gains self-confidence in his abilities. If you haven't changed to say “| CAN DO IT!,” ' start practicing it now. It isn't too late. With a positive attitude you will learn bet- ter and accomplish more. Always expect the best from yourself and it will happen! Congratulations and best wishes to each of you. This school year marked Mr. Frigo's 30th in education. Mr. Frigo is a graduate of Pullman Tech High School, Chicago; Western Illinois University; Southern Illinois Universi- ty; and the University of Illinois where he earned a Certificate of Advanced Study in Administration and Supervision. He and wife Joanne live in Orland Park. They have three children: Michael, Carol and Andrea. Attitudes often make the difference bet- happiness.” Attitudes effect the way we 3 Mrs. SHIRLEY SEARS — Secretary Mr. RONALD KETCHUM — President Mrs. MAXINE RYNKAR Mr. ROBERT HENTHORNE Mr. DONALD TERRY Mr. EDWARD JODELKA Mr. RAYMOND SWIEC The Oak Lawn High School Board of Education had four positions open in the November 1985 election. Two of the positions were filled by the incumbents Mr. Terry and Mr. Henthorne. Two new members were elected: Mr. Swiec and Mr. Jodelka. These four join the continuing members: Mr. Ketchum, Mrs. Rynkar and Mrs. Sears. These seven people spend untold numbers of hours, without compensation, to establish the policies by which Oak Lawn Community High School's administration operates the system. One of two returning starters from the 1984-85 club. Made the all-tourney team in the Hinsdale Central's Thanksgiving Tournament. Tremendous ability to hang and shoot. Ron can play inside or outside. BILL OLSEN 5’10” Senior The 2nd leading scorer in 1985-86 with a 16 point average. The other returning starter from the 1984-85 team. He also made the Hinsdale Central all-tourney team. Nice shooting touch from the outside with “‘great’’ driving moves. Bill provided leadership for this year's team. AL SORENSON 6’7” Junior Al has the size and quickness to become an excellent player. He was the third leading scorer, with an 11.5 average. A stress fracture of the foot halted his season at 16 games. ROB PRICE 6 1” Senior A hard worker and very competitive. An exceptional passer with the ability to score. Added great strength and power, usually out-rebounding much taller opponents. Earned a starting position through determination and playing good defense. KEITH MEGRAIL 5’7” Senior Helped lead his team to a successful season. A good ball handler who's always looking for the open man. He gets enjoyment out of seeing his teammates score. On defense, Keith is always looking for a steal, recovery, or forcing his opponent into a | turnover.
