HAROLD WILTSHIRE Seniors: Today, as you reflect on your achievements of the past four years and think ahead to the challenges of tomorrow, | would like to share a few thoughts with you. You will now move to assume new roles in a world that is awesome, fearful, demanding, yet ever so rewarding. It is a place where each day brings new opportunities and where each evening brings an end to the day — whether that day has been fulfilling, frustrating or traumatic. You will find that each day is different and each will be, in large measure, what you work to make It be. In Our society there is a dominant and everpresent element of competition, and persons are categorized into win- ners, second and third placers, and, of course, some are last. In your personal world, there is not this type of competi- tion. When you do your best you are a winner, and, when you know you have not done your best, you have lost. You are not the person you might have been. But even loss is temporary. Put the past behind you, begin again, and remember there is that within you which makes you unbeatable. Challenges are hurdles to be taken with the confidence of a champion, not barriers to be appr oached with apprehension. You are you. Just as there are no two fingerprints alike, there are no two per- sons alike. There is only one of you so why try to imitate others. Emerson wrote, ‘‘Make the most of yourself, for that is all there is of you.’ Be you. Be the most you can. Be a winner to yourself and you will also be a winner in the world about you. But remember too, the finish is also a Starting line and the wisest mind has something more to learn. Take each today and make the most of it and don’t be afraid of tomorrow. Be proud of what you are. Be aware of what you can do and be confident in what you do. Be gracious as you work with those less fortunate than yourself. And always, be thankful for your whole self and understand your assets and limitations. Good luck to each of you as you leave OLCHS. | wish for you th determination to make the most of each day and | hope your personal successes will be many. ee 5M cLtabae 4) 21 he oe alae wat . DR. For the meantime anyway! No more orien- tation missions, or elevator passes to the third floor! You feel neglected, isolated, void of attention. Still it is time to push onward to encounter the demons of Consumers and Health. It’s painful for you as they pound their worldly knowledge into your sensory devices, but you'll survive to face tougher challenges. There are many byways for you to venture into. You must bide your time by becoming in- volved in the offerings of the institution. It is well named for you’re slowly losing your sanity in the encompassing walls that hold you captive. Your shy, ner- vous exterior is slowly deteriorating as you and your fellow shut-ins enjoy yourselves. Soon you’ll be leaving the world of the Underclassmen. This year’s fall musical “DAMES AT SEA” was presented on November 4, 5, 11 and 12 in the little theater. The play was a musical Satire on the old backstage musicals of the 1930’s. The simple plot follows little Ruby from Centerville who comes to New York to become a Broadway star. During her tune filled day in New York she encounters tap dancing sailors, chorus girls in raincoats and galoshes and a Chinese house of sin. Due to a large turnout for auditions, Mr. Tom Dzurison and Mrs. Susan Johnson decided to double cast the six major roles. Donna Egan, Lara Wiziecki, Gail Stassner, Lynda Dembraski, Lisa Spero, Al Costa and Steve Leary performed as the chorus for both casts. Patricia Trusk and Vince LoRusso served as assistant directors while Karen Phillips performed the duties of rehearsal pianist. STARTING TEAM RANDY STANCIK Leading scorer, MVP of the team, and all-conference selection as a Junior. He will dismantle an opposing team’s defense with his patented power moves to the basket. Best rebounder on the team. TOM BAXA A great shooter. Tom plays a swing forward, always capable in passing to the open man, shooting an outside jumper, or driving to the basket. PAUL PARTYKA Showed- improvement as he gained confidence. Paul has natural skills. An excellent rebounder, A good perimeter shooter with adequate inside moves. VINCE KASLEY One of the most competitive players on the team... a good shooter and quicker than most people think. Vince is a confident but not cocky basketball player. He knows what he can do. He expects himself to do it. DAN RUHL Plays a solid floor game. Has plenty of stamina and strength .. . he’s alert and aggressive . . . likes to take the ball to the basket. Dan may not intimidate anyone with his size, but he does a pretty darn good job with his 5. quickness. i SOPHOMORES Front Row: Dave Canon, Gregg Macek, John Atkinson, Keith McGrail, John Hickey. 2nd Row: John Dapkus, Rob Price, Tom Roche, John McTeague. But after this year, there will be no more working on floats until two in the morning or study- ing until three. You'll celebrate your Seniority with the Prom and Senior Breakfast. Among your members reside the Homecoming King and Queen. You can be a member of S.C.A.B. or of the National Honors Society. Throughout your years at OLCHS you have learned how to beat the system. All the other students look up to you in awe. Graduation day is the highlight of your years in high school. Enrobed you'll walk the aisle to receive your diploma.
