Varsity Gymnastics The Varsity gymnasts are headed for one of their best records in the last few years. The reason for this is because of two senior all-around performers Dave Vahl and Ken Tsurusaki, who’ have been consistent all year and provide leadership for the younger members of the team. Another reason for the success of the Spartans has been from outstanding performances by two sophomores work- ing varsity. Ron Scaduto and Tom Dil- lon. They have filled in some spots that were very weak and thus increased the team score. 1. Front row, kneeling: Don Thorpe, Harry LaSalvia, Dave Vahl, Ron Scaduto. Although small in number, the squad of seven freshmen and eight sophomores made an impres- sive showing with a third place trophy at the tough Homewood-Flosmoor Invitational and a fourth place finish in a high quality SICA Conference Meet. Five sophomores, Joe Dybas, Jim Thorpe, Tom Dillon, Ron Scaduto and Jim Banish all performed well enough to earn spots on the varsity team. With the season high score of 70 points coming in the last dual meet. They now look forward to ''next year. ' . Bottom (left to right): Bob Sheil, Joe Dybas, Mark Vahl, Jim Banich. Yearbook Editors f x é 2 LO- Greg Crossett Julie Krzyminski Ernie Trembley The 1976-1977 Anniversary yearbook staff was a relatively small one compared with previous yearbook staffs. Neil Barnhardt, Grer Crossett, Lynn Engnell, Julie Kryzyminski, Bob Krause, Lori Loipersbek and Ernie Trembley were mainly respon- sible for the compilation of the bulk of this year's book. There was a lot of confu- sion and a great need for organization this year. In view of this, however, these people could always be depended on to do their best to put together a quality book. On many occasions they gave up their evenings and time after school to work on the book. For this they are to be thanked. Steve Yukel, who was not officially on the staff this year, also participated whenever his time allowed. Steve will be on the staff full-time for the 1977-1978 yearbook. Wayne Macha, Pete Heemstra and Vic Doylida assisted the yearbook with their photographic skills. Dawn Ammerman and Jeff Jedlicka were unable to remain on the staff for the entire year but they should also be credited with a con- tribution to the completion of this year's Shield. This year's staff was an enjoyable one to work with. The experience of putting together a book like this was a good one. | Lori Loipersbek Steve Yukel Lake Shore Labor Service, Inc. 734 W.
