SUPT. D. F. WINTERS, above, who has guided the destiny of Oak Lawn Community High School since its opening in 1952, is the person directly responsible for the overall operation of the school program, His duties include handling a host of administrative decisions, hiring personnel, and conducting the school's affairs with the county and state educational offices. In addition, he deals directly with the Board of Educa- tion in a variety of administrative matters, such as planning the budget, planning the curriculum, the setting up the school calendar. In short, the results of Mr. Winter's wise counsel are evident in all the many phases of our school's opera- tion. MR, B. E. WETZEL, below, the assistant superintendent, is the man behind a great many of the important day- by-day decisions necessary for the smooth operation of the school. It is he who supervises the thousand -and-one details which are invariably a part of the complex school pro- gram. Scheduling of classes, arranging for locker assignments, preparing student's permanent records, keeping finan- cial records, purchasing books and supplies--these are but a few of the many jobs which must be done well if the school is to serve its purposes efficiently. In Mr. Wetzel we have a friend whose willingness to help and patience make the road a lot smoother for all of us.

SALLY G, EMMEL Director of Guidance, English The work of the Director of Guidance is an important part of the entire educational pro- gram, especially in the coun- seling of students on vocational and educational problems. Her duties include working with teachers, the administrative staff, and parents; cooperatively uniting their efforts so that all students are given the utmost attention, in order to improve their scholastic standards, broaden their social and civic activities and better prepare them for their educational and vocational futures is also an important part of the Guidance program. JENNIE ORR DEAN of GIRLS The work of the Dean of Girls is an intrical part of the total guidance program. Her specific duties include general supervision of the behavior and attendance of the girls, maintenance of personnel records, counseling with parents, teachers, and students, and lending a helping hand to the girls with whatever personal problems they may have.
