THE STADIUM The Stadium was presented by the Greater Oak Lawn Swimming Pool Recreational Fund of the Oak Lawn area. The contractor was Deo Chapman of Oak Lawn. Both the High School and the Stadium was designed by the architects Madden Connor of Harvey, III. The official dedication was made on November 7, 1953, at which time the Reavis Rams played the Oak Lawn Spartans. Members of both the Oak Lawn Board of Education and officers of the Swimming Pool Fund were presented. The program consisted of a speech by Mayor Harvey Wick; a talk by Warren Keneipp of the Board, Elmer Buell of the RecreationalFund and Dave Hefferman for the County Superintendents Office. Chris Coniglio, President of the Student Council, accepted the Stadium in behalf of the Student Body of the Oak Lawn High School. Dreary weather could not dampen the cheerful spirits and grateful hearts of the Oak Lawners.

SCHOOL BOARD Seated (L-R): Dr. E. R. Adams, Secretary; W. O. Keneipp, President; Arthur J. Dooley, JR. Standing: Charles W. Lawrence, L. J. Castaldi, Hugh F. Devane, Deo F. Chapman, HISTORY OF OUR SCHOOL Do you remember when carpenters joined various classes? How we walked under the scaffolds in the lower hall, and sat in roofless rooms with glassless windows? We have come a long way from serving lunch in the Home Ec. room or having gym in 211, 212, or in the halls. We who were here last year look back upon those conditions, wondering how we ever survived. Today we have a smoothly run organization with cooperation between faculty, administration, and students. Heading our school's administration is David F. Winters, superintendent, and his assistant, Mr. B. E. Wetzel. Lockers this year relieve us of the load of books we had to carry last year. New classes opened this year because of the enrollment of the first OLCHS senior class. In 1953-54 we fared wellin the world of sports. Our football team was second in the new Southwest Suburban Conference. This conference was organized by the superintendents of the five schools it embraces. Our basketball team did not fare too well, but stayed in there fighting. Our wrestlers took the Sectional Championship and had seven representatives going to the state tournament with Phil Jurewicz winning the 112 lb. class state championship. Our newspaper, thd Spartanite, has been published every two weeks, and has been headed by Mr. Moore, sponsor, and Ed Berchert, editor. The Student Council in the past two years has been headed by June Shank and Chril Coniglio with Mrs. Orr as sponsor. The stage has been put to use with our growing band under the supervision of Mr. Pettibone. The Shield, a book of memories for all of us, was launched under thecapable direction of Don Thornton, Ed Berchert, and Mrs. Mackin, our sponsor.
