Golden Eagles Really Soar High TEAM UNDEFEATED IN FIRST YEAR OF ACTION Un September 4, 1959 the Oak Hill football team took the field for the first time. Little did anyone realize that this was the beginning of an undefeated, untied season. Freshmen and sopho- mores had received a few weeks of practice in the fall of 1953, but it was a new sport for the other boys. After a few weeks of intensive practice under the able leadership of Landry, Stillwagon, and Carbaugh the Oak Hill team was molded in- to shape. Because this was the first year of gridiron activity only four varsity teams were scheduledg the other three were reserve teams. It was a good start!
