A H up jk f' Golden Eagles Really Soar High TEAM UNDEFEATED IN FIRST YEAR OF ACTION Un September 4, 1959 the Oak Hill football team took the field for the first time. Little did anyone realize that this was the beginning of an undefeated, untied season. Freshmen and sopho- mores had received a few weeks of practice in the fall of 1953, but it was a new sport for the other boys. After a few weeks of intensive practice under the able leadership of Landry, Stillwagon, and Carbaugh the Oak Hill team was molded in- to shape. Because this was the first year of gridiron activity only four varsity teams were scheduledg the other three were reserve teams. It was a good start! Oak Bark Composed for the first time this year was the school paper for Oak liill High School. At the first meeting one of the first items to decide upon was a new name. Deanna Mosbey offered the suggestion of Oak Bark, The staff voted for this name and its decision was unanimous. Editor Donna Younce and assistant editor, Nancy Rundio, have both attended the Indiana University Journalism Clinic. There have been several special features and columns in the Oak Bark this first year: such as Through the Eagle's Eye and Coming Events. The editors, sponsors and staff have done a good job this first year considering the many problems involved in publishing one printed paper for a school housed in two buildings. i lst row, lcft to right: Karen Kendall loan Curtis Toni Shaw Kay Middlcsworth Ton Bove Linda Satterth L I K A I 1 I 1 y II 1 waite, Jack Kecfer, Karen Rudorf, Alys Orrell, Tom Mooreman, Sue Sirk, l.aTrelle Beasley. 2nd row: Judy Cain, Sharon Graham, Alan Miller, Kaye Reed, Rhea Dawn Barker, Peggy Dedinan, Ann Satterwhite, Diane Cunningham, Marlene Bove, Mary Lynn Landis, Beth Meyers, Deanna Mosbey, Mrs. Landis. 3rd row: Joe Winger, Sondra Ancil, Joe Sirk, Bonnie Mobley, Emilie Williamson, Miss Snyder, Don Larrison, June Han- sen, Anita Roherer, Jenny Brovont, Ianenne Nichols, I nflight Staff June Hansen, Editor-in-chief Don Larrison, Managing Editor The lnflight staff met at the home of Cathy Highley on September 19, 1959 to get acquainted, to get organized and to select a name. One of the most striking impressions which a student receives from the music department is a feel- ing of tremendous activityl 'I his feeling derives not so much from the large number of students filling the lllLISiC rooms, or the apparently ceaseless sounds echoing from all corners, but from the great diver- sity which characterizes the total music program. During any one day a casual visitor may find a beginning student learning to find on the clari- net tothe Varsity liand rehearsing Chorale and Alleluia. One might hear the 'leen 'l ones singing a two part chorusg the Eagleaires meeting four and five part songs for the first time or the Varsity Singers learning Houston l3right's The Stars are with the Voyager. The music department affords a vast quantity of activity. Student groups and faculty work together to achieve the highest standards possible of music for O.H.l'l.S. MVSIC COUNCIL: S.
