Consolidation will mean the end of undesirable trailer classrooms and other inadequate structures. There will be room and equipment and educational facilities for everyone. Burke’s need for a revamping of its school system cannot be denied. Students at Oak Hill High are delighted to see the approaching end of an out-moded form of public schooling and are glad to know that the younger children in the county are assured of a better and more sophisticated process of education.

a better school system for burke The 70’s bring with them a new style of education to Burke County. The long-awaited consolidation plan is on the verge of reality. Many high school students had campaigned for consolidation and were overjoyed when three county commissioners finally pulled it through. Our sincere appreciation goes to Commissioners Bleynat, Harbison, and Hamer, and our best wishes for success to the new superintendent, Dr. Charles Weaver. John D. Bleynat Leighton W.
