Chilly breezes turned into bitter winds, and winter was upon us. We enjoyed skating on glassy ice and the zesty zing of a snowball fight. Also with the bad weather came the battles with unshoveled walks and slippery roads to school. Winter frost thawed into blossoming springtime. Grass and dandelions speck- ed the landscape, and oc- casionally minds turned from books to thoughts of “beaus and belles” and the age-old sentiment of love. Now as the school year comes to a close we remi- nisce on those by-gone days and look to new horizons with hopes of happiness and success. And now, students of SOH, as you turn these pages of yesterday, re- member these people and memories and cherish them; for you, too, will someday cross the bay and be con- fronted by the vast ocean.

People are the principle force binding a school. We share each other’s emotions —laughter, tears, co- operation, and companion- ship. With each new season arrive new experiences and opportunities. The long hot summer brought beach parties, vaca- tions, and boating; and oc- casionally one may have seen some energetic soul engaged in an exhilarating tennis match. With the fun of sum- mer also came the appre- hension of the oncoming year, and the realization that for some of us it would be our last here at SOH. By the time theleaves had turned to shades of gold and flaming crimson, we were in the swing of a new school year. School spirit again en- gulfed us as we cheered our team on to victory.
