remembrances Memories are the fragrant things One takes down from mind's shelf, And dusts away time's deep imprint That he indulge himself With pictured moments framed by love, On star-lit nights in Spring, The lavishness of Autumn woods, Or meadows gold with blossoming. Memories are the coins spent For joy bouquets to constant friends, For hours of solicitude, For placid dreams when daytime ends, For alacrity instruction brings When searching for some truth, And for resiliency imbued Into the youthfulness of youth. Memories are the hoarded wealth The wages of the living - The kind one never can deplete By liberalistic giving, And yet the interest drawn therefrom Would satisfy the miser Till even he be changed into A creature - nobler, wiser.
