V . 0 1 92. ,K ! 1 ' Q OAK LEAVES 195a SPANISH CLUB The Spamsh Club opened a happy year with the eleotlon of the follow mg oflicers Presldent Nancy Fitch Treasurer Sally Snyder Secretary Susan Grlmmer We appreclate havlng as our sponsor Dr Dlaz whose native language IS Spamsh and who teaches us to speak it as we should We unmedlately planned one of our many wonderful Spamsh breakfasts and buzzed together about the thlngs we would do ln the comlng year A the new students m Spanxsh Conversatlon began to learn from our gra clous teacher we decided It was mme to have a Spanlsh luncheon when no one should speak a word except Spamsh It was great fun and those who had studled longer were helpful both ln supply1ng words and refreshments to those who were not quite so fluent' We have not spent all our tame in dlmng however and on alternate Wednesday mormngs we have conducted the morning assembly 1n Spamsh We varned our morning programs by addmg solos and poems ln Spamsh We have also presented several Span lsh movles 1n color mcludang some that were Just out of thas world with the colored V1eWS of troplcal cllmates and Spamsh culture 1n other lands Whlle lt seemed as though the year was hardly starvted wlth all our good tlmes the calendar told us we must prepare for our Pan Amerlcan Day festlvltles Our program was a gay fiesta type envtlrely nn Spanash and with Latm American songs dances poems and costumes We topped off the evemng with several colored movles of South Amerlca whach gave each glrl a feeling of nearness to our nelghbors of thls hem1sphere and to the true meamng of Pan Amerxoan Day Also in Apr1l we had an ex'h1b1t of artlstlc arvtncles from Latnn Amerlca On the last day of April we en Joyed another colored film with dsxfferent plctures on a tour through all of South Amerlca To eacvh of these programs we have mvlted the enftlre school Now as Oak Leaves goes to press we are planning a Spanlsh dmner and we are warmly grateful to Dr D132 and Nancy Fxltkh for all the hard work that they have put lnto this year to make it such a happy success for our Spanish Club .l mil' Z' fires Zy- Lil? 47 3 , 2 , 2 v . , . , 1 v Y Y ' I . X11 W - 1 1 OAK LEAvEs 1950 JUNIOR CLASS NOTES September found the versatlle class of 19a6 as upperclassmen thrilled to be back and happily alternating in getting to know our wonderful new girls and stuffing ourselves at camp suppers With Mary Hall president of our class we elected Mary Sherrran Vice President Catherine Dalton Secretary Lynn Miner Treasurer and Caroline Wilson Class Editor We shall always be grateful to oul talented class teacher Miss Schafe na ker for her valuable suggestions and cal genelo ity when we needed Trips to Rosemere trail rides picnic lunches exams and all the fun of our big Halloween Panty that everyone seemed to enjoy with lavish re freshments stunts fortune telling and hilarious entertainment made a merry term Two privileged Juniors were delegates with a Senior and a United Nations Sara Thomas and the lucky class editor enjoyed a most broademng experience Whale we were away our classmates enjoyed be mg hostesses to over sixty escorts from Hebron Academy and from their reports it was a grand success During our winter term we all worked hard practicing for the Winter Carnival which was as usual a loft of fun and a great success Then there was the Hebron Dance at Hebron which was even better than last year and the Sports Banquet It was easy to see by the number of awards that went to J uniors that our class out did itself and everyone else After Easter vacat1on at home vue returned for the best term of all as Juniors in Briggs We lagged a little in getting ready for Prelims for J umor Reading and dis overed Oak Grove knew how when and where to put on pressure' The results were worth it and the wlnners in the Pre 111115 Sandra Branson Catherine Dalton Mary Borden Hall Nona Hart 51 ' ' C6 !!
